Wazir will be the first big release of 2016 and the film isn’t carrying any buzz, even though it has a good star cast comprising of actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Aditi Rao Hydari, Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham in a special appearance.
In an effort to increase awareness and showcase his confidence in the film, Vidhu Vinod Chopra has organised plenty of screenings. To a certain extent he has been successful because positive reviews have been flowing on social media websites. But very rarely does this actually convert into ticket sales on Day 1.
As part of our weekly IndicineFBO box office predictions, we expect Wazir to take a opening of around Rs 4.4 crore and then grow over the weekend, depending on what sort of response the film gets from the audience.
For a film with limited appeal – even if it gets a positive response – it remains to be seen how well Wazir performs outside metro cities. It’s a medium budget film with landing costs of around 32-35 crore and recovery will not be easy if word-of-mouth isn’t overwhelmingly positive.
Meanwhile, Bajirao Mastani will continue to provide stiff competition, as the film will be running throughout the day at most multiplexes.

Wazir is a very good movie but a niche one. Only for limited audience as not many watch such movies. So 4.4 cr is a spot on prediction.
@Komal Nahi Nahata dude Aamir did SATYAMEV JAYATE and got 3 crore per episode.. 15-20 episodes would earn him 45-60 crores.. Where is patriotism?

Farhan is a talented and big star plus Shahenshah is in the movie but why the buzz of wazir is not so great.
Unfortunately Thrillers do not do very well in Bollywood. It will do great amongst the Multiplex audiences who appreciate different types of Movies!! Im hoping for a 5.5 crore opening anything above this is a bonus hopefully a 20 plus crore weekend would be a brilliant start to the year!!!
Coming to Airflift – I see the same thing in Holiday and Baby!! Plus audiences are not to be taken for granted, one minute Akshay does a Baby or Holiday and then Singh is Blingg!! Airlift total will be 65-70 crore Max
