The release date of Half Girlfriend has been announced. The film, which is based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel with the same title, will release in theatres on October 7 2016.
The period of release will be similar to ‘Shaandaar’ and ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ last year. It will release 2 weeks before the release of ‘Shivaay’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. Currently, there aren’t too many films in September either, after ‘M S Dhoni: The Untold Story’ on September 2nd and ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ on September 9th.
Half Girlfriend is likely to be one of the more anticipated films of the year, as almost all films based on Chetan Bhagat’s novels have done well at the box office.
‘2 States’ star Arjun Kapoor will be playing the role of a Bihari guy named Madhav. He has already begun preparing for the role, after wrapping the shoot of ‘Ki and Ka’. Shraddha Kapoor is the female lead, she will be playing the character of Riya Somani, a Delhi girl.
Half Girlfriend will be directed by Mohit Suri, who has previously directed films like ‘Aawarapan’, ‘Murder 2’, ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Ek Villain’.
This will be a sure shot success. Expecting the music to be very good, like all Mohit Suri films.. Arjun playing Bihari guy will be interested.. Shraddha is a good choice too, good that they didn’t repeat Alia Bhatt, else it would have been boring to see same stars as 2 States.
Seriously Man.. How this Arjun kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha Type of people even Get Movies… Shame
No matter how the movie is…when mohit sure is the director….we expect great music from this films
Arjun is okay as Bihari guy but Shraddha is not the best cast as per the book accordingly. Kriri sanon will be the best choice.

another flop in the making…. 100% guaranteed…. arjun kapoor will be the main reason for the failure of this movie….i can say that he cant make big in Bollywood compare to varun dhawan or ranveer singh….lets see what happen in the near future for arjun….

Seriously disappointed with the casting .. Madhav in the book is portrayed as a tall lanky boy, this Arjun Kapoor is fat & broody, cannot relate him to the character at all, same goes for Shraddha, the character demanded a tall & confident girl which Shraddha isn’t.
No more excited for this movie now.

I was really excited for this movie..bcoz i like this novel too..thogh it is wekest novel of Chrtan bhagat..but now they are casting arjun so all depend on trailer..they should have cast one of guy from pyaar ka punchnama 2..anyways love the character of madhav in novel..
I hope Rohit Shetty doesn’t end up signing this Arjun Kapoor in Ram-Lakhan remake, Sidharth & Varun would be the perfect cast. Hope for the best, anyone but this Kapoor would do.

The casting is bad Arjun Kapoor in another Chetan Bhagat adaptation seems very repetitive. Sidharth Malhotra and Kriti Sanon would have been perfect for the film.
Mohit suri means chatbuster music n shardha kapoor is croud puller whatever anyone pridict HG will be hit for sure n worst case senario average also marketting tigress ekta is producing probably 2nd 100cr film for non actor arjun
I think salman with shruthi hasan or srk with illiena is also a good choice for this movie
Why so much negativity against Arjun? He’s a better actor than Varun and he is working under good directors like R Balki and Mohit Suri. They are seeing talent in him, that’s why they are signing him.

Half Girlfriend will gonna be a Flop…Because lead stars are not matching the novel’s characters…Which will gonna affect on word-of-mouth…We except good songs from Mohit Suri…But Nothings stand in front of lead stars performances…If they fail to impress audiences then it is written Flop…
the movie will definitely suffer because of the bad casting shahid or susthant were the best to reprise the role of madhav jha one of them should’ve picked up for the leading role and shradha too doesn’t match the character riya somani from any angle only kriti could’ve done it it is also releasing on a bad date 7 oct it will be completely overshadowed by the shahid saif and kangana starrer rangoon which is releasing on oct 2
I wish to see dhanush as the male lead coz I believe the role will suit him

Ranbir should have given justice to Madhav .
But the director knows better but I think producers are forced him to do such silly casting .
Because Even Arjun Kapoor can’t think that he can do justice for this Role .

Very poor choice of actor (I hope i am proved wrong).
I was really looking forward for this movie even though the Novel was bad it had the potential to be a very entertaining hindi movie.
It started aptly with Mohit Suri roped in to direct this script.
Its hard to imagine Arjun Kapoor pulling up Madhav, a heavy accented small town Bihari boy.He is a misfit not cos of his looks but his acting prowess.
Shraddha Kapoor is a gorgeous looking girl with good acting talent but playing a tall basketball player and high profile delhi girl. ITS FAR Fetched!
Ideal casting should have been Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon. If they were unavailable cast newcomers
