At the receiving end of quite a bit of criticism for acting in two back-to-back ‘mindless entertainers’ in the form of Happy New Year and Dilwale, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said Dilwale is not about reinventing cinema.
The film, he said, was meant to entertain the audience and it was never pretended to be something else.
“Dilwale is an unabashedly popular commercial film. It’s not pretending to be something else. It’s meant to be watched by everyone; it has romance, comedy, drama. I don’t even think that having Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan is a novelty factor as it’s just that we are doing a film together after a long time”
“Within that scape, if you’re looking for something, then Rohit Shetty has not had much of a love based storyline or relationship aspect in his films as he is more known for action and comedy. That will be novelty for Rohit. But if you ask me generically, no Dilwale is not reinventing cinema. It’s a fun commercial movie”
Khan was quick to point out to his upcoming movies, one of which is ‘FAN’ (a concept film, which is also a tribute to his fans) and Raees (based on a Gujarati don). Shah Rukh also noted that FAN is not meant to be a big holiday release, because it’s a niche film.
“If you’re looking for novelty, then you should watch out for ‘Fan’. It’s a different kind of film, supposed to be a niche.. It’s not meant to be a blockbuster releasing ahead of Christmas” he said.
Excited for FAN more than anything else.
Many have picked Raees , but for me, its FAN which will surprise the audiences.

I’m glad he finally spoke about it. I would also add ‘Chennai Express’ in that list, he shouldn’t have made another masala movie after that, but he made 2 of them, HNY and Dilwale.
I had been saying it since start of the year that I’m looking forward to Raees and Fan more than Dilwale.
SRK is also saying that Fan is a niche film, I wonder if he would be doing it if the script writer brought the script to him to make under his Red Chillies production house? Probably not. It’s a ‘YRF’ film and that’s why he’s doing it. He probably thought masala movies are ‘cash-cow’ after CE’s success, so he made 2 more back to back masala movies under his own production.
I want FAN to earn 200 crs on non holiday. I hope he comes back to character roles after mindless craps. I am waiting for FAN !!!!!!!

Guys, understand one thing that no one on this face of the earth has achieved the super stardom that a common guy from the streets of Delhi has. Believe it or not but he is the ultimate Bollywood star who has a global reach, even more than any Khan including Bachchan.
He is the one who has played life always on front foot and has evolved his lifetime achievements in terms of money, name, fame, stardom and what not. He is the most intelligent and talented bollywood star who is respected overseas.
He is an actor, anchor, has a cricket team, producer, marketing genius, brand ambassador of a state, padmabhushan, Doctorate, has real estate business, I don’t know if I am missing anything else… just sit back and relax and give it a thought if your Amir, Salman or any Khan, Kapoor, Bachchan, Kumar, Singh can ever achieve this and above all he started with nothing in his hand expect the confidence which he still has in his eyes.
Above all, he is a fantastic family man, successful businessman, immense gentleman and a kind human being. Always a law abiding citizen, never involved in any illegal or unlawful act irrespective of his personal or professional careers.
I am not going to get carried away with one bad movie and start speaking negative about him and everyone deserves a chance and remember not in every game Sachin made a century!!!

I hated the film HNY and was disappointed to find Shahrukh would agree to do any crap film just for the audience who love some crap films!!!! these type of films would entertain the majority of the audience. Maybe.. but not all.. I remember that I left the theatre in the second half of the film and couldn’t stand it at all! therefore am not so exited to see Dilwale as the trailer says it.. but am going to watch it today only for Shahrukh, hope that I won’t be disappointed this time!
