Vidya Balan signs Suchitra Sen biopic

It’s raining biopics in Bollywood. After Priyanka Chopra (Mary Kom) and Farhan Akhtar (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag), Vidya Balan is all set to play yesteryear actress Suchitra Sen.

Sources say, Vidya had two choices. The first script that was offered to her was based on the life and times of Suchitra Sen. The second was on the life of late Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Vidya decided to play Suchitra.

The film will go on floors in April. Vidya will start training for Kathak and has hired a dance teacher.

“Vidya admires the late actor, and since it’s a biopic, she wants her portrayal to be authentic. After the makers informed her that she will have Kathak dance sequences in the film, she asked them to arrange for a teacher” a source said.

“The film is set to roll next month. Before that, Vidya wants to train in Kathak, and for that, she will also get a dance teacher, Pt Jayu Raman to the city from Lucknow. The training program will start next week and go on for two weeks” the source added.

An official announcement on the film is expected to be made soon.
