The trade had huge expectations from Veer and as of today, the Salman Khan starrer directed by Anil Sharma has managed to live upto it.
As we all know by now, business at multiplexes all over India was on the lower side (30-40%) right from Day 1 (Friday). Monday witnessed a further crash and the film has been rejected at the plexes. Collections down south are disastrous, business in two key centers in Karnataka – Bangalore and Mangalore – is way below expectations.
But what’s heartening is the fact that, the target audience of Veer, have taken to the film big time. Business at B and C centers in India is strong and the trending is pretty good.
Collections were strong on Friday, followed by a minor dip on Saturday, picked up again with Sunday recording the best collections for the weekend. Weekdays were always going to be crucial and the film has sustained well – Monday witnessed an expected dip in collections, but business on Republic day (Tuesday) was record breaking, similar to the boost that Wanted received on its first Monday.
Below are the day to day collections of Veer
- Friday – 7 crores
- Saturday – 6 crores
- Sunday – 7.5 to 8 crores
- Monday – 3 crores
- Tuesday – 6.5 crores
5 day total – approx 31 crores.
Week 1 is expected to be somewhere between 34 – 36 crores.
What remains to be seen in the next few days
- Can Veer sustain and match its Monday collections during the remaining two weekdays i.e today and tomorrow?
- Will the release of Rann and Ishqiya affect its collections? Unlikely to, since both releases this week are targeted mainly at the multiplex audience.
The movie Veer has already crossed the 44 crore mark, and is now a “Hit” movie in India domestically.
The third weeks collection wolud take it upto 50 -52 crores and lifetime business may be around 56 -60 crores.
everything is turning out as i predicted…!!!! a flop is what i predicted for this movie and im happy that it did .. i beat the best of analysts here including the site moderators too who were only too happy to appease a few fans of this movie .. so the reality check is that it has flopped…!!! any wonders why it did?? why did the rest of 50 crores as predicted by people here didnt come or will not come???

Salman has got Billions of fans all over the globe they will watch. Geniunely speaking VEER has done well at box office, EROS are quite happy with box office. VEER is a HIT.

Also he is the second man in the world after Michael Jackson, where people die to have a glimpse of him.

Veer is below average to average at the most by the end of its run due to its high cost, and the bad crash it witnessed in week due from terrible word of mouth among the audience.
Its just too bad Salman just can’t get it going. Though there is still tremendous mass appeal for salman, you just can’t help but notice he is going down. His last superhit was Wanted, and he gave a blockbuster in 2006 in Partner. In between that, he had films that were either flops or disasters. Since Partner became a blockbuster in 2006, Salman’s success ratio is a mere 1/8 in movies with a lead or supporting role with last year’s Wanted being the only success. This is just a terrible record for a superstar. Infact some of his movies lately have been down right rejected and have been disasters like MAMK, God Tussi Great Ho, etc.
.. and Veer is a below average to average fare at best,, looks like Salman’s terrible run continues!!!!!!!!!!!! True he gave blockbusters in the past like Hum Aapke hain kaun and stuff, but Salman is doing a very poor job in choosing his scripts. True his performances have been pretty good lately (Veer, Wanted and London Dreams), but a lot of the movies were just terrible with the exception of Wanted and London Dreams recently.

Hi Prity I saw this a few days back that VEER will collect 25 crores distribution share which is equal to De Dana Dan. At that time it had the DS of 23 crore it was actually by the end of second week so by this time defiinitely it would have got the DS of at least 25 crores so sallu rocks also he is the most searched male celebrity on the internet. His body and face till date remain inimitable.
