Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab has shown a big drop in business on its 8th day at the box office. This was expected because the film was performing in North India and that was due to two reasons – Diljit Dosanjh’s presence and the fact that the film was about Punjab.
But ‘Udta Punjab’ had major competition in North India this week, from Diljit Dosanjh’s Punjabi film Sardaarji 2, which took a record-breaking opening on Friday.
The Shahid Kapoor starrer will now struggle to recover its costs through theatrical business. It might just about break-even when other revenue sources are included, but such films have little or no satellite value. The music has fetched a good price.
Overall, ‘Udta Punjab’ is heading towards domestic lifetime collections of around 60 crore. The verdict of the film is likely to be ‘Above Average’.

Udta Punjab lifetime could have been in 70-75Cr Range had Sardaar Ji2 not released this week,but now it will end its run Under 60Cr….. Diljit Dosanjh own movie killed business of its own UP….but Diljit cannot be blamed for this,he was not happy with this…he said that it was Sardaar Ji2 movie Producers decision n he could not do anything abt it

It is disappointing to see Udta Punjab struggling to become a Hit . It is one of the Best Movies of 2016 . It takes guts to make a movie on such a subject and Abhishek Chaubey, Anurag Kashyap, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Diljit and Kareena all of them should be applauded for making something which can trigger a change in the youngsters . Honestly the Online Leak has affected it big time . It was available online 2 days before the release and most of the people downloaded the movie instead of watching in Cinema . Those people who watch movies via downloading will never watch that movie in Cinema even if it is a masterpiece . The business has been affected by 20 to 25 % . Anyways it will be successful and it should go on to be Semi Hit . Drugs Di Maa Di !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sultan has been passed by the CBFC with zero cuts. The board also said they loved the film and it will surpass expectations.
Even if Sardaarji 2 wouldn’t have released,it wouldn’t have crossed 70crs.

Anyways i didnt liked it much. The movie was completely ruined by shahid kapur character for me . It was Very Unrealistic And Bogus 4 such a realistic Approach movie.
Shahid was good in parts And if this you call awesome acting than There r many friends of mine who can do this type of joker Chutiyapa .

The problem with shahid is he is not a commercial star…..He can’t pull an average masala film with his star power. ..like salman did with kick …or srk with hny ….or hrithik with bang bang… or akki does with his masala flicks. ….He is good actor with niche directors and niche films….which has very limited appeal…..that’s why he has not crossed even 70 cr. ..forget about 100 cr. …
