Tubelight isn’t sustaining as well as the trade expected it to on Day 2 at the domestic box office, as the business of the film – until 3PM today – was down by around 5-10% from Friday. If business shows growth evening onwards at multiplexes, the Day 2 total of the film could get to around the same range as Friday. Else, it could end up with a total of less than 20 crore, which would not only suggest a negative trend, but would seal the fate of the film on the second day itself.
When compared to other ‘Pre Eid’ releases featuring Salman Khan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan had similar release circumstances as Tubelight, the jump in business from Friday to Saturday was more than 34% (Day 1 – 27.25 cr, Day 2 – 36.60 cr).
The film was carrying extraordinary word-of-mouth and inspite of strong competition from ‘Bahubali: The Beginning’, the Day 2 business of Bajrangi Bhaijaan showed nearly 40% growth at multiplexes – even though it was Pre-Eid.
The other film, 2014’s Kick, showed only 2% growth – but that film got a huge initial. Kick had collected 26.5 crore on its opening day, much more than the 21 crore Day 1 collections of Tubelight.
The trend on Saturday has made the 200 crore mark out of reach for ‘Tubelight’. The distributors of the film will suffer losses, as the film was purchased for a high price with the hope that it would recreate the magic of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and Salman’s presence would ensure a strong initial. So far, ‘Tubelight’ has disappointed on both counts, needing nothing less than a miracle Post-Eid to recover costs.

From the day one I noticed this site has special liking of Khans.. .day n night Khans articles are promoted…does it help? Answer is “no” . Public is well informed nd have better sense than most of the faltu so called critics. Salman lacks acting SRK can’t do action or superhero stuff…JHMS will prove to be even more disaster…casting is bad…story is cliche…however we have Hrithik who is gifted and has bunch of talents…but this site always criticise him…reason is apparent to all of us…Tubelight has exposed Salman pretty well…JHMS will expose SRK soon…its Hrithik who will set high standards for Bollywood in Krrish4…now except Aamir other 2 Khans will face tough time ahead.

Defence has started with BOI and others will follow ,its a niche film, experimental, not for mass circuits as they are unintelligent dwarfs, could not be understood, had good message but unlucky, but the fact would remain its a yucky film.
Indicine it will easily cross 200cr dont disappointment.

Lifetime looks in the 140-170 cr range. Box office is really unpredictable. I remember @indicine once spoke about 2010’s case where My Name is Khan and Tees Maar Khan were expected to top but it was Dabangg and Golmaal 3 by a huge difference. This year everyone thought Tubelight and TZH will be the only films to cross 300 cr but Bahubali 2 has created unimaginable records and TZH might just touch 300 cr.

Tubelight is struggling in the USA as the film even debuted lower than Telugu film DJ. Allu Arjun starrer has comfortably beaten it even with half number of screens.

I am really surprised movie was awesome ….salman nailed his role….these critics kind of spoiled things reason known to them why most probably they dont have hearts otherwise movie was awesome kind of best movie i saw in last 10 years after border salman was just too good only thing going against is bahubali effect on people my heart says movie will be stable in coming days salman made brave attempt with this movie at peak of his career may be he will afraid if movie doesn’t go past 200crore ….deserve to go 300at least…..such a beautiful story stiill tubrlight world in my eyes
”opening defines stardom” is statement ki to batti lag gayi after tubelight & baahubali 2. its clear stardom is temporary, the thing that will be remembered always will acting & quality movies where only aamir khan working towards. aamir khan got the trust of audience thats why he is rulling on box office, his masala film opening was bumper on non holiday while non commercial masala film dangal pk also got good opening on non holiday. thug will get bumper opening on diwali holiday *without any clash. srk also par in opening, salman has no doubt the most crazy fanbase who likes him for his dabbang image thats why this experiment failed. tzh is his type of film.

@TIGER the tatti Kya tumhe yakeen hai commercial solo release tubelight opened to less occupancy than clashed movie raees which was delayed, clashed, 3400 screens as compared to 4500 screens of tubelight and so on? DZ was off beat and srk wasn’t in the lead you fool. Kya tumhe yakeen hai ki tumhara marigold star ki aukaat srk se aage sirf 6 saal ram thi. What about baaki ke 19 saal? Tab to srk hi boss hai na? where is salman’s fan now , who kept saying that no need nothing if bhai stand there movie will collect 300 cr 400 cr but the real fact is bhai is nothing without EID . PERIOD .
