Salman Khan’s Tubelight has opened to average response at the box office on Friday morning. The occupancy for the morning shows is fairly good, but compares poorly to almost all Salman Khan films in recent times, including Jai Ho which managed to get a very good initial at mass centres.
The average occupancy at centres that we tracked was a little lower than 35%. At most centres, occupancy-wise, Tubelight has taken the 3rd best opening of the year after S. S. Rajamouli’s Bahubali 2 and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees (which was involved in a clash, but also released on fewer screens).
As far as the initial is concerned, there were signs all the way through that the hype for a Salman Khan Eid release was missing. The teaser did not get a good response, the trailer was better but when we did the survey in theatres, most weren’t overly excited about the film. To add to it, barring Salman Khan – who himself wasn’t in his usual commercial elements – there was hardly anything in it for the masses.
The level of opening suggests the film could just about manage to cross the 20 crore mark by the end of its first day. To post a bigger number, business has to grow evening onwards, but the reports which are mixed, could stop the film from getting that extra push.

Salman trying to move mountains and stop wars by sticking his arms out and grunting earnestly, over and over. These are supposed to be emotionally hardcore scenes depicting naive wholesomeness and a good heart. They come across unbearably farcical, crippled by what is possibly the worst performance of Salman’s chequered career. Tubelight means well, an anti-war movie that illustrates the pointlessness of battle and the importance of not actively hating those you are at war with, and while its simplistic message is timely and admirable, the film is rendered unwatchable because of the leading man. hahaha 1 star

Salman Khan’s Tubelight has received mixed to negative reviews from critics. The actor had earlier dismissed critics saying their reviews do not matter to his films. What’s important though is the response from the audience in theatres and although it’s still a little early, the reports that are coming in from the morning and noon shows aren’t very positive.

I think everyone knew this…including Salman…that’s why he spoke about his personal life, etc during promotions. When actors over promote, you know there is a problem with the film. But that aside, its not possible for someone to keep giving hits always.

Doesn’t have even 50% of stardom that aamir and srk have and all his so called bumper openers were from commercial masala movies and released either on out and out national holiday or partial holiday. Without masala movies he can’t give Even 28 cr opening. It is proved that aamir is mycg bigger star than salman. Even srk in his bad phase is doing much better. Put salman in talaash or fan it wouldn’t have opened more than 10 cr. And life time would be less than 30 cr. Shame on such stardom. Fake 2010 born baby stardom. Lol.

it seems that salman khan has made his haters happy….they are waiting for something happend like that and they can speak out all their pains! all are speaking about tubelight collection but they all forgot that salman has deliver more 100 cr films than any others! they forget talash,dhobighat ,fan all were below 100 cr.tubelight will surely cross 200cr…that means if amir shahrukh deliver a film below 100 cr ,its not a failure but if salman delivers 200 cr means its failure….now you can understand why salman khan is called king of boxoffce…even his 200 cr films is not enough to call succesfull :D
@Arif don’t try to act oversmart. Yes salman has given more 100 cr films and since he entered 100 cr club he hasn’t given any film below 100 cr but don’t forget that before 2010 his movies used to struggle to cross even double digit life time. Main aur mrs khanna, marigold, god tussi great ho, yuvraaj, saawan, shaadi kar ke phase gaya are just few to mention and many more in last decade. He has given 9 back to back flops in a raw. Can anyone challenge this record? ?????. For now tubelight isn’t even likely to cross 200 cr because such disastrous start and no interests for coming days shows that collections are already written on walls and face saving life time are also looking out of reach. So stay in your limit. Put salman in fan or talaash and release on non holiday and we will see his so called stardom.
