Salman Khan’s Tubelight has opened to average response at the box office on Friday morning. The occupancy for the morning shows is fairly good, but compares poorly to almost all Salman Khan films in recent times, including Jai Ho which managed to get a very good initial at mass centres.
The average occupancy at centres that we tracked was a little lower than 35%. At most centres, occupancy-wise, Tubelight has taken the 3rd best opening of the year after S. S. Rajamouli’s Bahubali 2 and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees (which was involved in a clash, but also released on fewer screens).
As far as the initial is concerned, there were signs all the way through that the hype for a Salman Khan Eid release was missing. The teaser did not get a good response, the trailer was better but when we did the survey in theatres, most weren’t overly excited about the film. To add to it, barring Salman Khan – who himself wasn’t in his usual commercial elements – there was hardly anything in it for the masses.
The level of opening suggests the film could just about manage to cross the 20 crore mark by the end of its first day. To post a bigger number, business has to grow evening onwards, but the reports which are mixed, could stop the film from getting that extra push.

ooh dear ! wish it cud’ve been a better opening, really wanted a good start from the film as there r only 3-4 men who r running bollywood ri8 now. its an endearing film, should be watched at least once. i wish for a good or better weekend. At least he tried something different and we must appreciate it.

Just finished the early morning show of TUBELIGHT. Must confess being a BOLLYWOOD movie fan that this one doesn’t have its heart at the right place. SALMAN KHAN really doesn’t know how to act. Infact ZEESHAN AYYUB has overshadowed him in some scenes. LATE MR. OM PURI is typically brilliant but the movie drags and gets really boring in the second half. U really feel taking a LOO BREAK from this one. SALMAN KHAN’s acting is the worst ever in this one.

I think now JHMS should target 20cr
-It will have 100 times lesser appeal than Tubelight(Urban metro romcom, whereas tubelight is universally appealing like Bajrangi Bhaaijan-which also had no action; tubelight atleast has war)
-Tubelight’s trailer was good. JHMS has no trailer, promos are nightmare
-Tubelight is hot genre, JHMS is a FLOP DEAD genre
-Screens and ticket price of TL>>>>>>>>JHMS for sure
-Kabir khan-the brand name
Imtiyaaz-the flop name
-Plus TEPK : Audience will save money for that too, Tubelight has 3 free weeks

Actually opening is very good considering all the factors (like non holiday, pre Eid etc). Salman se bumper openings ki aadat ho gayi hai…That’s why it looks average.
Tubelight will be reckoned as beginning of done fall of Salman khan whose carrier was blinking through out with ups and downs though last few years undoubtedly turned best and exceptional for him but this is disaster and u can quote him Rajesh khanna now

The makers were overexcited due to the presence of Salman khan,they thought that he is bigger than the film and gave very wide release,there was no need to give this much screens when you knew that the movie has average promos and less commercial elements.

Listen no one is bigger than a movie…if it will carry good commerciality,it will open good enough.
