Salman Khan’s Tubelight has dropped further a day after the Eid holiday. The film collected Rs 12 crore on Tuesday, to take its 5-day business to around the 95 crore mark.
In comparison, Salman’s 2014 Eid release ‘Kick’ collected Rs 21.66 crore on the day after the Eid holiday – which would probably be equivalent to 23-24 crore of business after adjusting for higher ticket prices this year. So in real terms, Tubelight on its 5th day has collected almost half of Kick on its 6th day.
The poor trend over the 4-day extended weekend sealed the fate of the film, which is now looking at lifetime business of somewhere in the 135-140 crore range. It would still need to hold fairly well in the second weekend to beat Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and become the highest Hindi grosser of the year so far (not including the dubbed film Bahubali 2: The Conclusion).
In other words, the lifetime business of ‘Tubelight’ is likely to be lower than the 4-day collections of Salman’s last Eid release ‘Sultan’ which collected Rs 142.15 crore in its first 4 days.

95 crs 4 days is below average for megastar Salman khan, just beacuse his superstardom is unwatchable and trade expects more.
But the same numbers are blockbuster for bhakt kumar and global phanka.

Well we all megastar fans agree this EID Tubelight failed. Look at the numbers 95 crs in 4 days looks below average for Salman , but the same numbers will be blockbuster for your global phanka.
Also after giving 12 back to back blockbsuters one flop wont affect the stardom of megastar.

Stardom only works for certain time…in that time whatever you have touched turns into gold….it happens to SRK few years ago and happened to Salman too recently…whatever crap they throw fans accepted it…but for how long??? Ultimately they need good content movies and acting to last forever.I am not fan of any khans but fan of good movies…but in acting department i guess SRK > Salman…Aamir in different league…Hope they improve their acting skill with content filled movie so all of us can enjoy.

@Anand yes Aamir is exceptional, As Aamir is unlike Salman who cheated his distributes and served niche arty blockbuster tubelight with high prices.
Talaash was announced on Post IPL release, later postponed to late November release. The film opened 14.5cr which is just 5cr less than your Salman’s Dabangg sequal of same year. The weekend was 45cr, and lifetime 90cr. Moreover it was not a box office diasater and most of the distributer achieved some profit, some of them loose small money. Regarding Mangal Pandey, it was only the bumper opener of that particular year, despite being a disappointment it was 3rd highest grosser of that year much ahead Salman’s semi hit Maine pyar q kiya, Akshay’s Garam Masala. It took bumper opening but content was not upto the mark. That’s it.
But what about Jai ho, Salman at masala generation, came at one year gap and collected just 109cr. Itd great we don’t talk about the epic disaster Tubelight. It didn’t have taken the opening, let alone content come in picture. Aamir is indeed exceptional, he clearly promoted that Dhobi ghat is purely a niche movie, which don’t have any entertainment that’s why I being an Aamir fan didn’t go to theatre to watch it. Our Idol is not only intelligent but also honest about the movie content while promoting it. Accept that Salman has given the biggest shock to industry with tubelight, distributer had heavy losses. and move on.
