The theatrical trailer of Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’ had a massive launch on Monday. The makers decided not to hold a press screening of the trailer and instead opted to release it on the Star TV network – which reaches out to a huge section of the audience.
A press statement says, the trailer was viewed by more than 30 million people worldwide on Star Network channels. The trailer was played as a three minute full trailer via a roadblock on their network channels at 8:57 PM Indian Standard Time.
Written, produced and directed by Gowariker, the epic adventure-romance is set in the city of Mohenjo Daro in the era of the Indus Valley civilisation which dates back to 2600 BC.
“We are extremely thrilled with the positive response to the motion poster and first look posters of ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and couldn’t wait to share the trailer. Television still continues to be one of the best and fastest way to reach out to viewers across age groups, segments and length and breadth of the country and in this case globally” Ashutosh Gowarikar said in a statement.
“We thought it would be an ideal platform to release the film’s trailer which deserves to be seen by all as part of a special roadblock across the Star Network. We also made the trailer available across digital platforms as well as part of the launch” he added.
The trailer has also received more than 1.6 million views on Youtube in less than 15 hours after its launch.
Starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the lead, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ is scheduled to hit theatres on August 12.
Meanwhile, the trailer has become the second most commented trailer page on our website – crossing the 500 comments mark. It has also received more than 1.6 lakh views in less than a day.

Firstly it was SRK to do that with My Name is Khan trailer launch.. & den it copied by Jai Ho makers & Now Mohenjo Daro…
Interesting is all 3 movies of Star TV network.
MohenjoDaro is not based on fantasy! So let’s not compare it with Bahubali.
Rajamouli, SLB and Gowariker are three different directors. If you ask them to make a film on a common story, you will find their projects quite different from each other.
Rajamouli’s movie will contain much more creativity and imaginative sequences compared to the other two.
SLB’s project will have too much of melodrama and the love story will have more screen timings than the other plot sequences.
Gowariker will make a realistic movie with a well-balanced screenplay.
Matching the standrd of Bahubali is quite tough for any Bollywood movie.
But, I am very much confident that Mohenjodaro will be a better movie than Bajirao Mastani which was also a good,yet overrated movie!
In Bajirao Mastani trailer, SLB had got all the good parts of the movie in it. MohenjoDaro seems to have many more hidden wonders.
Moreover, MohenjoDaro is not just a love story, but it is more than that. It is more based on Adventures!!

Mohenjo daro trailer is one of the best trailers till now but still some CHUTIYA khan fans will say “IT’S BAD”.

I have not seen anyone calling the trailer bad so far(obviously I am talking about genuine people, not lunatics like Sunday Sunny etc). Majority are loving it. Some found it okayish!!
Talking about critics, Ani Guha said he may postpone any movie of the year to watch MohenjoDaro! Rohit Khilnani called it fabulous. Sukanya Verma called it tiring, but she added that Movie could be good..
I have watched the trailer around 50 times! To be honest, I didn’t find a single bad moment in the trailer which was looking below par! The only bad thing was the editing for which it feels slow initially, but after a few seconds, it rises to another level with the engaging BGM and entry of Kabir Bedi. The performances are looking quite promising!
Unless, in the movie, they have something really unusual up their sleeve, otherwise trailer is strictly average with a huge sense of Deja vu. There is a hero (dhoti & lagan type) & a villain (with horns for a difference) and a heroine (who can be from any period of time). Why they had to go 4000 years back in time to show this. I have no idea. This story can be set in any time. Rustic village, some horse play, alligators in river and usual kissing stuff. However, Rhitik looks honest & earnest.
Average & disappointing.
Oh, just realized trailer was also released on UTV’s Facebook page, and it has got around 1.5 million views on FB as well.

Was expecting a masterpiece. This one looks way off the mark.
Problem is not the trailer. It’s the expectations from hr-ashu combo. Mohen-jo-daro trailer is better than most trailers of the year but the ‘hatke’ element is missing.
Or may be there could be a surprise element in the film that isnt shown in the film! Fingers crossed. Awaiting MJ!

I was eagerly waiting for the trailer but after seeing, im disappointed coz i thought it was something visually grand and sets and scale has to be grand but it was poor, it looked like some average painting!!!
Has anybody noticed that when Bajirav Mastani’s first trailer released back in June last year, it received negative response and many already wrote it off. But the 2nd trailer was spellbounding and interesting enough to inprest the audience. Same can go with MD. This trailer might be below average but the movie may surprise because it’s directed by Ashutosh gowarikar and don’t underestimate his direction. He is one of the finest directors in the country. So please don’t judge the book by its cover. Let the movie release and see how it is.

As a neutral fan I found the trailer pathetic- a love story between an alien n local royalty- similar story was done in Jadoo 2003 where an alien landed on Earth n begun a gay relationship with a maanvar child- noone wants to watch such crap love story again…!
