Top 5 Highest Grossing Bollywood Movies: 2000 – 2014

Analysis of the Top 5 Highest Grossers in Bollywood since 2000, throws up some interesting stats. Action, Drama and Comedy (in that order) are the three most successful genres in the industry.

Shahrukh Khan remains the most successful actors since 2000, as 17 of his 27 movies have found a place in the Top 5 highest grossers of the year. Super consistent.

Next comes Salman Khan, who has featured in 37 films since 2000, out of which 12 films find a place in the list. Akshay Kumar has the same number of films in the Top 5, but hasn’t delivered the year’s highest grosser and has featured in many more films as compared to Salman.

Hrithik has played the lead in just 20 films in his career out of which 10 have been huge grossers. Aamir Khan is at number five with 8 films, only because he has acted in just 12 films in the last 14 years. Aamir’s ratio of 2:3 is the best amongst all actors.
