January: Hrithik Roshan’s 4 year old film Agneepath continues to be highest grosser of January, followed by Jai Ho and Race 2. The target for 2016’s biggest January film is Rs 102 crore to become the third highest grosser of the month or 123 crore to become the highest grosser of the month. Update: Airlift has now become the 3rd highest grosser of January, beating the lifetime business of Race 2. The next target is Jai Ho and finally Agneepath.

February: The second month of the year is a dull period for the industry. Not many big films release in February and 2016 will be no different. Ghayal Once Again, Sanam Re, Neerja and Fitoor are the big releases. Excellent word-of-mouth will be the key for any film to challenge the Top 3 films.

March: After February, March has also been a dull month for the industry. This year has a few films that could challenge the top grosser of the month – which also happens to be oldest film occupying the top spot – the 2008 film Race. Priyanka Chopra’s Jai Gangaajal, Sidharth – Alia’s Kapoor and Sons, Great Grand Masti and Rocky Handsome are the big films. All those film hold the potential to make it to top spot, with Great Grand Masti being the biggie.

- Kahaani (59 cr) – Vidya Balan
April: Shah Rukh Khan is the top contender to take the top spot this month. His first non-festive release since My Name Is Khan, Maneesh Sharma’s Fan, will release on April 15. It’s ‘expected’ to easily top the collections of Housefull 2. The other contenders are Ki & Ka and Baaghi.

May: Last year, Tanu Weds Manu Returns did the unthinkable by grossing Rs 151 crore at the domestic box office and Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back took the third spot. This year, the target for films like Mirziya, Azhar biopic and Sarabjit would be Gabbar Is Back. The Top 2 films could prove to be out of reach.

June: ABCD 2 fell short this year, but 2016 has biggies lined up in June. The biggest of them all is Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 3, which releases during the Post-IPL period. The other films are Jagga Jasoos and Udta Punjab.

Shah Rukh tried his luck once again, but failed with Dilwale. Ranveer’s Bajirao Mastani did much better, but failed to beat 3 Idiots. It’ll be Aamir vs Aamir once again this year, as he would be targeting the record of Dhoom 3 at the very least. But if there is one man in the industry, who you would place your bet on beating the total of PK, it would be Aamir himself. Strong content, of course, will be the key.

Airlift Set To Emerge A Winner- Excellent Growth On Day Two

Airlift looks set to emerge a winner as it had good collections on its second day of around 14.50 crore nett. The first day collections were fair but the second day is good. More importantly the trend is excellent with growth going near 35%. Although it does not mean much with only a dud like Wazir released so far, Airlift may possibly emerge the first hit of the year.
The growth is solid across all big city multiplexes. This is as important as some films get huge growth on strength of high ends. The mass pockets are not great but good growth in the likes of Surat and Lucknow which are important A centres, it can get away with it as it dos not need to go towards 200 crore to be a winner.
The two day business will be around 25.50 crore nett and will easily go over 40 crore nett depending on the Sunday growth. If mass can go to high levels on Sunday it will be a huge bonus and then the film could even go for a big number.
So cheers every1 time to party…

His debut released back in 2000 which was the first blockbuster of January month and also only HGOTY of the january month so far. After that no film on January has become blockbuster or even superhit except for hrithik’s own agneepath which was a super hit. While the megastar who came after more than 1 year after his own release couldn’t break hrithik’s aneepatg record. I still consider hrithik the third biggest star after Srk and aamir. Soon hrithik will take top spot. Salman never was bigger than hrithik. Hrithik is much bigger superstar than Salman. Jai ho proved that Salman ks nothing in front of hrithik. Also November belongs to hrothik as Salman’s so called most awaited prdp couldn’t come close to real megastar hrithik’s 2 years old krrish 3. Airlift 2 days box office collections: 12.35 + 16.73 Crores = 29.08 Crores. Day 3 (Sunday) should be appx 20 Crores. Tuesday again (Republic Day) should be same as Sunday. Airlift’s First week is heading for 90 Crores plus. 2nd Saturday should see it cross 100 Crores net in India.
