April: The month of April 2015 has quite a few big releases – Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar, Detective Byomkesh Baksh, Mr X and Piku. Which film can break the record of Housefull 2?

July: Salman vs Salman. His Eid release ‘Bhajrangi Bhaijaan’ will challenge his last year’s release Kick for the highest grosser of the month. There is another big release – Dharma Productions’ Brothers starring Akshay and Sidharth Malhotra.

The question was, who is the most inspiring person in Bollywood? This was my answer.
This man is one of the most respected director in Bollywood with all his 3 films getting both commercial and critical success. Yet most of us know very little about him. Let’s figure it out:
Born in a middle class family, Raju Hirani was a very average student. He wanted to become an engineer because of peer pressure. His score in 12th grade couldn’t get him in any engineering college so he opted for B COM.
In the first year, he started attending coaching classes for CA entrance but soon he realized his heart was not into it.
One day before the entrance exam, Hirani told his father that he couldn’t understand anything about accounting.
Yes, the famous, “Main engineer nahi banna chahta, Abba!” is actually inspired from his real life. His father told him, “Okay. Don’t go for exam.”
His father had a shop where they sold type-writers and calculators. Hirani started assisting his father after the college hours. During the second year of his college, Hirani became fascinated by plays and formed his own group of friends who’d write, direct and act with him in his plays. This went on for 2 years and post his graduation he told his father that he wanted to be an “actor.”
His father insisted, he should apply in the Film Institute (FTII Pune) He couldn’t get through in acting course, so he applied for direction. Sadly he failed again. Someone told him that the editing course has very few applicants, so he tried there and got selected.
After completing his diploma, Hirani edited few movies. Bad experiences forced him to drift towards advertising. Within few years he established his own company and started directing ad films. He got a call from his batch-mate Sanjay Leela Bhansali who was an assistant of Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Chopra wanted him to edit promos of 1942 – A love story.
After editing promos for Chopra, he kept on with his advertising agency. Three years later, he was again invited by Chopra to edit promos for his Kareeb. Chopra’s editor Renu Saluja passed away after Kareeb. Chopra gave Hirani his big break as an Editor in Mission Kashmir.
Seeing passionate people around him, Hirani decided to take a conscious break and he wrote the script of Munna Bhai MBBS. His only connection to the film world was Vidhu Vinod Chopra, so he narrated his script to Chopra who was impressed by the idea and co-wrote the entire movie with Hirani and decided to produce it.
Rest as we know is history. The amazing thing about him is, he keeps challenging himself. His first movie was expected to sink without a trace because of its mostly unknown cast. His second movie was again expected to tank because Hirani was told, “Sequels don’t work in India.”
You may or may not like his movies but you can’t really hate him. Though whatever I have written is available on Wikipedia, I felt the need to tell his fascinating story on Quora. Hirani is truly inspiring!

Akki does 4 to 5 films a year, so almost a movie every quarter! Instead, he must concentrate on doing 2 movies a year & release the 1st one between April & June and the 2nd one in either October or November, doing 2 movies in an year should really improve his movie collections & standing (instead of 4 or 5 60+ crores grossers , two 130 + grossers are always much better , it doesn’t sound good when people call him as a ’60 crore club’s king’) I mean youngster like ranbir has a 189 crore grosser in his kitty while akki’s highest grosser in his career so far has been ‘rowdy rathore’ inspite of he being a genuine superstar , I wouldn’t still consider Ranbir as a superstar but he would be one in the future for sure.
Salman on Eid , srk during diwali & aamir during Christmas are the biggest festival delights for their respective fans & it has become a sort of mandatory tradition , eid is incomplete without the mouthwatering sheer korma, delicious haleem and a Salman khan movie for his fans. Similarly there is no diwali without the delectable gulab Jamuns, tasty mithais & srk and no Christmas week is complete without the yummy plum cake, turkey & aamir khan !
Perhaps its time hrithik also makes one of the major festivals his own , may be the navratri – dussehra period and also ensure that he gets 2-3 open weeks for his movies!
