The ranking system will also be divided into three; Top Actor in India, Overseas and Worldwide. The list below is for the Top 15 Actors in India i.e the domestic market only.
- The list would be based on the net box office collections of an actor’s last five movies. For younger actors, the minimum number of films is 3.
- Only lead roles would be considered. Cameos, special appearances and guest appearances won’t be taken under consideration.
- Dated movies that released before 2007 have not been considered.
- Only domestic box office collections is being taken into account. Collections from all regional versions have been taken into considering as this list is for the top actors in India and regional language releases affect Hindi business in their respective states. For example, Tamil version will affect business of Hindi version in Tamilnadu / Kerala circuit.

Rank 1 Aamir Khan: The combined collections of Aamir Khan’s last 5 films has crossed the 1000 crore mark, the first actor ever to do so. The ‘worldwide’ collections of Aamir’s last film PK, is more than the combined collections of Shahid’s last 5 films AND Emraan Hashmi’s last 5 films. Before the release of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, Aamir was ahead of all others, but the gap has closed quite considerably. There is very little to choose between the Top 2 actors in the industry today.

Rank 2 Salman Khan: The superstar has become the second actor whose last films have collected Rs 1000 crore or more at the domestic box office. For Salman to beat Aamir, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ had to collect Rs 338 crore in India. Unfortunately, like Salman and Kabir’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ too has fallen just short of Aamir and Hirani’s ‘PK’. The good news is, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has to collect Rs 218 or more in India for Salman to take the top spot once again! He also averages more than 200 crore for his last five films, something that only Aamir had achieved.

Rank 3. Shahrukh Khan has dropped down to No 3 in the domestic markets, as his latest release ‘Happy New Year’ couldn’t match the collections of Chennai Express or Kick. For Shahrukh to beat Aamir, his ‘Diwale’ would have to collect Rs 372 crore in India! However, Shahrukh has 3 films lined for release in the next 11 months. If all those films perform well at the box office, the ranking could change in his favour.

Rank 4. The release of Bang Bang temporarily took Hrithik ahead of SRK at the domestic box office, but before Bang Bang finished its run, Happy New Year had already released in theatres. Hrithik’s average of 134 cr is fantastic, comparable to the Khans even though he doesn’t always get to release his films during Eid, Diwali or Christmas. To elaborate a little more on this, out of the last 5 films, all SRK films have released during one of the three festivals, except Jai Ho all Salman films have released during the three most lucrative periods in the industry and Aamir Khan too has preferred to release his films during Christmas (all except Talaash). Hrithik got just one Diwali release for Krrish 3 and made the most of it. He will be missing from action in 2015, as his next release is Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjodaro (August 2016). Till then, Hrithik is likely to hold on to his 4th position as Ranbir’s last two films have been box office disasters.

Rank 5 Akshay Kumar: For the first time since we started ranking actors, Akshay Kumar has made it to the Top 5. Ranbir’s downfall and the reasonably good box office performance of films like Baby and Gabbar Is Back have ensured a spot in the Top 5. However, all of his last three films, including the biggie ‘Brothers’, were expected to be 100 crore grossers. In fact, there were expectations that Brothers would be Akshay’s first 150 / 200 crore grosser. Unfortunately, the film hasn’t worked at the box office. It has an outside chance of breaking into the ‘100 crore club’, but at the time of writing this article (20 August), Brothers is likely to finish with lifetime collections of 90-95 crore.

Rank 6 Ranbir Kapoor: His career was at an all-time high after the success of films like ‘Rockstar’, ‘Barfi’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, but the last couple of years have been terrible for Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Besharam’ tanked after a good opening day and ‘Bombay Velvet’ couldn’t even manage a face-saving opening at the box office. The film went on to be the biggest disaster of all time. Ranbir has also given away his spot in the Top 5 to Akshay Kumar. Will Imtiaz Ali (with Tamasha also starring Deepika Padukone) give him his much-needed hit?

Rank 7 Ajay Devgn: Action Jackson failed at the box office and Drishyam under-performed too because of competition from other films. Ajay, however, has some massive films lined up for release. ‘Baadshaho’ under Milan Luthria’s direction. Their combination worked well for ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’. He also has his own directorial venture, the mega-budget film ‘Shivaay’ and the recently announced biggie ‘Sons Of Sardaar’ – both scheduled to release during Diwali. The next couple of years are expected to be huge for Ajay, as he starts working on films that are expected to be strong in content and are commercially viable too. It remains to be seen if he can get the right release date and avoid clashes with other films.

The release of ‘Dilwale’ will also be a huge boost to Varun’s career, as the Shahrukh Khan’s starrer will release in places where no Varun Dhawan film has released so far.

Note: Dil Dhadakne Do has just released in theatres. If the film manages to collect Rs 100 crore, then Ranveer will make it to the Top 10.

I was waiting for this article for a long time . After PK Aamir got the first position but with BB the margin between Salman and Aamir has been reduced . After PRDP Salman will easily get the first position . Even if PRDP is a average movie it will easily do 220 CR because it will release on Diwali . 2016 is looking like a exceptional year . Airlift, Raees, Sultan, Mohenjo Daro, Shivaay and Dangal all are looking amazing movies . I loved the way you said about Hrithik . Even without getting many Holiday releases he is a huge competition for Khans . Mohenjo Daro will be a brilliant movie and it will do huge business . It will be another feather in HR’s Golden Cap both on a performance level as well as on Box Office Level . Expecting a Masterpiece from Hrithik, Ashu Sir and UTV . Also the most important thing the movie is not releasing on Eid, Diwali and Christmas . I hope Mohenjo Daro does more than 200 CR . It is great to see Akki in top 5 . This is the place where he belongs . If SIB does 100 CR or more than it will be good . 2.aamir (because he has only 1 release in a year but in holyday)
3.shahkhruk (he releases in holiday time most of his films)
4.salman (he release in eid, eid is one of the biggest holyday in the word).

No doubt Salman will top after PRDP
SRK has no chance of gaining no 1 spot even no 2 is out of reach. But still it is very good that he has retain no 3 spot, it is not easy..I believe SRK will retain it and HR and others have no chance of beating him
With Raees and Diwale clashing on BO and Fan releasing on non-holiday, seems very difficult to beat SK and AK

5, srk’s free promotional strategy by taking American security check up name that is main reasons of its negativity as well as huge promotion
6, with free promotional strategy , this film earn more money than its capacity may be it will earn less than 50C

Salman fans dont go too much overboard for PRDP. Every movie cant have brilliant directors like RH, RS and KK who appeal to masses as well as classes. Suraj’s movies are boring wedding videos, nothing else. PRDP will take big opening due to new year holiday but it wont sustain long like BB which is huge only due to its story and WOM. Other wise Salman’s limo is jai ho. So PRDP even in best case will settle in 210 crores to 215 crores. So Aamir will remain No.1
