The year is quickly coming to an end and we finally have the Top 10 Weekend Collections of 2014 – the final list. The last big release of the year, Aamir Khan’s PK, has come second in the list.
Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year is the highest weekend grosser of the year and the only film to cross Rs 100 crore in its first weekend.
The Khans top the year yet again, but they also got the three best release periods (Eid, Diwali and Christmas) along with increased ticket prices and wide releases.

HNY is ahead than PK and Kick in weekend collections but Kick is ahead in lifetime collections and same will happen with PK.
Inspite crossing 100 crores in weekend HNY is expected to be the 3rd biggest grosser of 2014 and now competition is between Kick and PK for biggest grosser of 2014.

HNY couldnt cross 200 crore inspite of blockbuster Farah SRK jodi+ Masala film+ heavy promotion+ Holiday release.
Feeling sorry for SRK fans. No highest grosser since 7 years.

unfair to say that Salman and Aamir got the best weekend to release their film from an opening point of view. Yes, for lifetime, festive effect and holiday effect will come into the picture……
but only from an opening point of view, Salman in fact released during ramdan and Aamir released on a normal weekend……eid and xmas advantage helped the films but not for opening and this article is strictly for opening weekend figures….real holiday advantage from an opening point of view was there for HNY, Bang Bang & Singham!!!

Hi, even after 20 – 25 years, the khans rule. It is high time that they do films of ‘international canvas’ rather than stick to similar zone. They should experiment with scripts, screenplay, techniques, costumes, camera work, zero songs, etc. They can afford at this phase of their career.

weekend figure of ungli is 13 cr and of 2 states is 10cr which is less than raaz3. Don’t make fun of yourself.lol.
so after 100cr weekend hny had failed to break kick record this show the power of king with so much promotion and holiday he can break opening weekend but lifetime records are impossible for our king every year salmir top the list while our king remains third always wow what a power.

SRK has reached a level where he just needs to make a good, lovable film in order to stay on top most position. He attained that last year, and had HNY been anywhere as good as CE, then I can say it in all honesty that Kick wasn’t even a challenge.
I wonder y ppl r saying pk is just a film about reli malpractices and commercialization.it also says that sex is not a taboo.it is d first superstar film which hs words like condom and dancing car used half a dozen time.plus it says hw v ppl easily prejudice someone.in Hindu dharm a woman wearing white saree is considered a widow.in christian ddame white colour is worn for marriage and black when someone bcms a widow.and d same black colour is worn by muslim women when they go out!!!whwn pk was wearing normal dresses he hd to pay to buy his food but moment he wore a khakee uniform ppl started giving him food for free!!!
plus it teaches how all d misunderstanig,fights,wars happen bcz v r so complicated with our own thoughts.v say something but often mean something else.

@lisa I agree with you… On a serious note- recently I have noticed a change in Indicines writing/ thought process with regards to Aamir Khan and my belief is that its become more negative about his achievements and no longer is it objective or positive…. Even today their first article was to post some supposed rumour about Chopra/ Hirani/ Aamir paying 6cr to Shukla to stop his OMG

Our kings movie is at top and we were very happy and doing lungi dance at that time but after weekend collections dropped and hny just crossed 200 crores
Just 2 day before on 18th, I said it is last day of celebration for Aamir haters,And I know I was right.
When the first day figures out,people start to say movie failed blah blah,now look the figures guys.
2 year earlier Dabangg 2 released on 21 DEC 2012,it was a mass entertainer with biggest release at the time of 3500 screens,collected 60cr in first weekend domestic while it was a mass entertainer with extremely popular movie sequal.
3 years earlier Don 2 which again a sequal of a film which prequal itself was remake released on 23rd DEC 2011, with 2700 screen (highest that time) including 350-400 3d screens, as we know 3d screen rates were higher than normal rates collected 48 cr in 3 days.
Why I am talking about these films is because both Dabangg 2 and Don 2 was sequal of successful film having two superstar Salman and srk respectively whose fans claims they alone is ahead than anybody.Both Don 2 and Dabangg 2 were highest non holiday opener that time, now last year released Dhoom 3 became not only highest opener of non-holiday but also of all time which all India figures is still highest than any film till date.
Now with pk when trade figure suggest 56cr also officials are also same that weekend is around 90 cr+ which is higher than trade figure of full fledged holiday rekease CE 87 cr without previews.While PK is not the biggest release ever,even Indicine admit that screen count is less than kick and hny.
Despite being film is multiplex oriented it simply outshined the figure of last year holiday film CE still Aamir haters saying he has no stardom.
With a sequal of successful film both srk and salman on this period just got the same faith at box office which Aamir got a brand dhoom or hirani than I don’t think there fan has any right to bash Aamir stardom.
Even high ticket rates or other factor count the 80% higher figure than Don 2 and 50% higher dabangg 2 it suggest even in worst case pk has same footfalls which these two film had.
Still Aamur has no stardom, an bhai issue jyada stardom to kaisi ki nahi h agar Aamir ki stardom nahi h.
And please don’t say that Dabamgg and Don are not brand at least It has biggest two brand if Bollywood what else you want more.
P.S.-nothing against srk and salman stardom but a strictly some fact and you can say anger of die hard Aamir fan like me.
Guys don’t degrade someone like Aamir who from 11 years has given wonderful films back to back like Lagaan,dch,fanaa,rdb,tzp,3i,talaash and pk.
And two big box office earner of a time with masala films Dhoom 3 and Ghajini.
