Top 10 Highest Overseas Weekend Grossers of 2013

Dhoom 3 has not just beaten, but decimated every single record in the overseas markets. The film has collected $3.3 million more than Chennai Express in 3 days. In fact, the weekend total of Dhoom 3 is better than the *combined* total of overseas Blockbusters like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ram Leela and Krrish 3.

This is not about a biggie breaking previous records by a small margin, but history in the making. Aamir Khan has set the benchmark so high, that it will be difficult for the 2014 releases to match (except Rajkumar Hirani’s P.K of course!)

  • 1. Dhoom 3 – $10.4 million (Rs 64.5 crore)
  • 2. Chennai Express – $7.1 million (Rs 44.75 crore) – $8.2 million including paid previews (Rs 50.8 cr)
  • 3. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani – $4 million (Rs 24.8 crore)
  • 4. Ram Leela – $3.9 million (Rs 24.1 crore)
  • 5. Krrish 3 – $3.85 million (Rs 23.8 crore)
  • 6. Race 2 – $3.1 million (Rs 19.2 crore)
  • 7. Besharam – $1.7 million (Rs 10.5 crore)
  • 8. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag – $1.4 million (Rs 8.7 crore)
  • 9. Satyagraha – $1.3 million (Rs 8 crore)
  • 10. Special 26 – $1.25 million (Rs 7 crore)

  • Guys I don’t want my comments to be seen as discrediting Aamir or the dhoom team. I am simply stating facts. AKS you mentioned that I didn’t speak of the factors against dhoom 3 but you’re forgetting that many articles are already speaking of all the factors against but no one is speaking of all the factors going for it. This was a safe bet movie. Both previous dhoom movies were huge….it’s the most successful franchise…it’s got katrina showing lots of skin (we saw what her song did for agneepath alone) the biggest widest release of any film and yes hiked ticket prices. You say pre Christmas is dull….not in overseas…Biggest movies release around Christmas… the corporate world is on a break..school holidays have Lready started mid December…everyone is in holiday mode. It’s far from dull period. It has no competition while SRK dVds another competition at the beginning of its second week..otherwise dhoom would’ve been chasing a 270crore figure but instead it’s chasing 227.

  • @Indicine why did not you answer me???…..you only answer about P.K??? what’s about HNY???……don’t be biased…….I have asked…..

  • @ Sakhi & all SRK fans: Stop doing non – sense by disliking each article. Instead watch your favourite actor’s movie twice or thrice.

  • SRK fans seem to be too logical and rationale when they try to prove why SRK is the best or his films are successful. However, when it comes to other actors, they lose it. They become completely absurd and deluded…
Of course, Dhoom 3 is on its way to become the biggest grosser of Bollywood partly because of being a popular franchise. At the same time, they should appreciate Aamir for being able to successfully pull off such a challenging role.
So far as SRK’s popularity in overseas is concerned, SRK fans like to solely credit SRK for his popularity (of course, SRK deserves the credits) and obviously fail to credit YRF Banner (that has made SRK a brand) and Dharma Production with their huge marketing channel overseas.
Another example, CE was a blockbuster. But has any SRK fan credited Rohit Shetty (famous for churning out blockbuster after a blockbuster)? Tell me when SRK had given his last blockbuster before CE (in India). Yet, SRK fans fail to give due credits to others, here, Rohit Shetty! To me, SRK fans are deluded and lack rationale thinking!

Guys, accept some reality today no matter what.

    1) Aamir Khan, the King of the Movies with Quality
    2) Salman Khan, the Numero Uno Star in India
    3) SRK, still the King in Overseas Boxoffice
    4) Akshay Kumar, the King of Stamina and Self-made Superstar (though SRK, too, was an outsider to Bollywood, he had bollywood connections through Gauri, Salim Khan family and others. He got lucky to get chance to work with YRF.)
    5) Ajay Devgn, the King of Acting (Don’t Go for his Look.)
    6) Hrithik Roshan, a Guy with Talent and the King of Dance (without his father, his story would be different today).
    7) Govinda, the most under-rated Multitalented Actor
    8) Shahid Kapur, the most side-lined Talented Actor in his Generation
    9) Emraan Hashmi, an under-rated Star and the King of Adult Category Films
    10) Aditya R Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Sushant S Rajput, Arjun Kapoor, Imran Khan, Varun Dhanwan etc- the Future Superstars and Too Early to Comment on their remaining aspects.

  • where r srk fans, king, no 1 and what not they said, i wrote wait for dhoom 3, overseas ka king hai srk now what.. amir khan is king of kings And emperor of all small kings, khano mai khan sirf aamir khan.

  • @yash ji Ramukaka put away the calculator as you are only deluding yourself…!

@sakhi rawant Noone remembers what question you asked but if it was the question about who speaks more intelligently out of you and Rakhi Sawant then Rakhi Sawant wins just by a whisker…! :-P

  • still don’t understand why ppl would value any film according to the income and few more crores more at the box office?

I was so happy while watching Big Star Awards show on tv this week.. when Bhag Milka Bhag won the best film award.. and Farhan Akhtar as the best actor.. it really deserved to be the best film of the year as there’s ( no flaws) at all in this “perfect” film, unlike the other movies which earned 100 or 200 or crores but with lots of flaws and pathetic action scenes.. like what we saw in Dhoom 3.. Ohhhh God.. how could some ppl consider it as a good film?!!!! believe it or not.. if u just “hide” Katrina from this film, and no existence of her at all.. the film would have earned zero profits at the box office.. she made it.. yes.. she’s the one who made it and not Aamir Khan!!

  • Amir!! :O i mean i thought he left those kind of films and setartd his own style, this would be interesting to see him, doing the perfection thing in Dhoom, Jr bachpan needs to learn a lot and so does Uday .(hey u share ur last name with this guy! :P)
