The Shaukeens has taken a decent start at the box office on Friday. Given the star cast of the film (Akshay Kumar only makes a special appearance), The Shaukeens has released on nearly 1900 – 2000 screens, which is higher than most medium-budget films released this year. It should cross the 5 crore mark if it evening / night shows hold up.
The all-India average occupancy in the morning was around 25%, which has picked up to around 30-35% in the noon. Exhibitors are confident that the film will pick up towards the end of the day, as the initial reports from theatres is good.
The other film Rang Rasiya has opened to empty houses on limited number of screens and shows. The film is a non-starter at the box office and will struggle through the weekend.
The big competition for ‘The Shaukeens’ will be from Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ which enters its third weekend today. At multiplexes, ‘The Shaukeens’ has significantly higher number of shows as compared to ‘Happy New Year’, so it will be interesting to compare the weekend business of the two films. Will the family audience prefer ‘Happy New Year’ over ‘The Shaukeen’s or will it be the other way round? A lot will depend on the word-of-mouth that the Abhishek Sharma film carries.
Srk fans calls Randeep Hooda a big star & he is also a crowd puller for All Time BlockBuster KICK. But now we saw this star’s solo movie opened with empty theaters! Lol

@babaji. The budget is estimated around 45 CRORES. They have already got around 5 CRORES from music release and 15 CRORES is expected from tv rights. So they need around 50 CRORES to break even.

@gotya (or gottiya ) sir your are really the greatest fan of our goat-king lungiwalla khan srk , you are the most intelligent person ever born on this planet because you are comparing the latest movie ‘ shaukeens ‘ with a movie ‘marigold’ which was released some 7-8 years back, if I am not wrong marigold was a delayed low budget movie directed by a non-desi director with hardly any publicity or promotions, yes it was a big flop but honestly in terms of quality it is zillion times better than crappiest ra.1 or the crappy crappy new year, atleast it did not have the legendary ‘SCENES’ that lungio ka king srk had with deepa shahi in the historical block-blocker-blockest blockbuster MAYAMEMSAAB nor was it as irritating as CE (chindi express) .
sir you should be really proud of lungi king’s hny as jaya bachaan ji called it the ‘most sensible, most intelligent, most artistic, most cinematic ‘ greatest ever classical masterpiece of a movie ever made in human history.
I think the oxford dictionary should change the meaning of the word ‘CRAP’ and give it a new meaning, something like ‘CRAP can be described as the feelings of extreme mental torture, extreme irritation, extreme anger & the resultant ill effects one experiences when watching the great movies like ra.1, Hny, ce etc for ex: ‘a 4 year old goat and its owner suffered from ‘CRAP’ after watching hny in a theatre’ or ‘some 257 people were forcefully pulled out of theatres from some of Kolkata’s biggest multiplexes and transfered to a nearby mental hospital after they suffered from extreme ‘CRAP’ after watching the ‘king of craps’ srk’s RA.1 on its 1st day of release and more people are expected to become mental patients after watching srk’s acting in the movie’
