Aanand L Rai’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ has created history at the domestic box office, becoming the first film without a major male star to gross more than Rs 150 crore. Without the box office might of a Khan, Kapoor or Roshan, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ has become the 14th highest grosser of all time.
There is also a huge milestone coming up for the film. It has grossed Rs 246 crore worldwide, the contribution from the overseas markets is around Rs 44.5 crore. It should eventually go on to be only the 12th 250 crore plus worldwide grosser.
For a film made on a budget of just Rs 32 crore, these are record-breaking numbers. All others film in the ‘200 crore worldwide’ club had a landing cost of more than Rs 50 crore.

Also audience reception was poor, even Ram Leela created bigger hype than K3 through amazing songs and dance sequences which brought in a lot of casual audiences.
Roshans were in a hurry to cross 200 crore and increased figures by almost 60 crores.
Kangana didnt need the help of her papa or marvel comics nor some crappy hollwood film remake to get a 150cr grosser…. She can do something that our jadoo boy struggles with which is not SHIVER at the climax…

Huge huge achievement to kangana and twmr team, as per trade the film is still 3 cr short of 150 cr but in every way the success is outstanding.
I have seen twmr and its a good film but I loved its prequal more, so I found twmr is not good as twm was.

Krriss 3 took a fantastic start as expected with collections around the 80% mark on average at multiplexes with heavy volume screenings. Many theatres recorded 100% occupancies. The rate at which it as opened suggests a mega number for the first day but it is not a national holiday and it is pre-diwali with many people busy with Diwali festivities.
When it is a non holiday the occupancies at multiplexes tend to be lower in the afternoon and early evening period for films which record strong starts in the morning while on holidays films go through this period with little falls. This happened with films like Dabangg 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (other big initial takers on non holiday) and is bound to happen to Krrish 3 which will stop it going close to the Chennai Express or Ek Tha Tiger opening day numbers, both of which opened on national holidays. Here there is also the disadvantage of pre-diwali.
At single screens it’s a different story and should go through the day with 90-100% collections due to just 4 or 5 screenings per day.”

Krrish 3 (Hindi) has collected around 18 crore nett as per early estimates on its first day. Practically all areas were hit by the pre-Diwali period which will continue till Monday. It will be Sunday evening when people come out to watch the film as Diwali festivities get over.
The film will depend on what happens on Monday as collections will not go much higher till Monday. There is a dubbed version of the film which has been released in Tamil and Telugu which could have collected a further 1.5-2 crore nett.
There is always a risk with a release in a dull period but if Krrish 3 gains momentum from Monday onwards then there will not be a problem but if it does not then it becomes a bad release decision as the film has not really been given a fair chance as business is all about initial especially for big films and Krissh 3 not had that chance for a really big start.
Now there is difference between opening and opening day figures, opening is always about the morning shows that article of boi was update as morning 10.30am for first day where they clearly said that in multiplex its going to fall down in afternoon and evening because of diwali effect, other thing morning shows always had less ticket rates so a film if had opening of 100% in morning collects equal to 60% of noon or evening shows, that was the case with k3. As per boi k3 first day was 18.75 cr Hindi+1.5-2.00 cr in regional I.e. total is 20.5 approx while producers says 25.2 cr. Even on k3 first day estimate what Indicine wrote. Have a look.

Producers increase film collections to save their prestige. It would have been a great shame for Roshans that Krrish 3 didnt cross YJHD. So they manipulated by 60 crores.
But trade figures are the truth, analysts have no benefit in shiwing less figures.

Those who thinks that boi need publicity by degrading k3 figures as it was dead website.lol. when CE got released boi servers were crashed for first 2 days due to heavy traffic on the sites as many srk fans nd non fans want to see the collection of opening day of CE as due to official it had broken ett record. So a site which has huge traffic at the time of CE how it need publicity just after 2 and half months with k3, if they want publicity it was great if they choose dhoom 3 which was a bigger franchise with one of the biggest superstar+biggest banner. Why they choose k3 that wasn’t even a holiday weekend.ridiculous thought, isn’t it.
Now with most of big release there was never a huge difference of boi and official figures, in this year most of films lifetime matches with officials except baby.
Even last year Singham returns opened with 74cr weekend and ended its business with 139cr net, despite that SR wasn’t trashed critically and its wom wasn’t bad eithereither, on other hand bang bang which trade collection is 147cr, collected 181cr with negative wom and poor critic rating, also after first week it was pre diwali days, and competition with successful film haider, so if there was no haider, than bang bang would collected 3i domestic figure of 202 cr without 3 big holiday time, when kick official was 233 cr only which was better received EID release. HR fans logic sucks big time.

Dude, K3 was a much bigger film than Agneepath considering its buzz and sequel factor and It had released on much more no.s of screens than Agneepath. What about Jai Jo sunday collection being lower than Kick opening day which was a pre-eid non-holiday?
And, when a film is releasing on around 4100-4200 no.s of screens, even 18 crores is is doubtful for a 50% occupancy. So even If the morning shows were around 80-100% and there was a drop in next shows, 18.5 crores is still small to believe. And the Saturday and sunday collections by BOI was even More laughable. 15.5 crores on saturday and 15 crores on sunday!! Lol. So a film, which has been awaited from 3 years is doing 15 crores on the days of its opening weekend. The thing is that you’re a blind follower of boi. Even if they had reported k3’s collection as 100 crores, you people would have believed them saying Roshans did a manipulations of around 140 crores. I’m not saying that boi is always wrong. But there must have been something horribly wrong wid them during K3 time.
And as for Bang Bang, it had 3 open weeks. It had done around 95 crores in its 1st 4 days. Audience didn’t have any choice to watch other films, specially at single screens. Singham Ret. case is different. Mardaani had carried superb Wom and even did well at single screens. On its 3rd week, Raja Natwarlal released.
And what kind of critics rejected films u’re talking about ? All these critics-rejected masalas like Ready,Bodyguard and Chennai Express too were critics-rejected films. So was SR too. And these Ready, Bodyguard etc don’t do that well at multiplexs, but still they were blockbusters. Bang Bang had appeal towards both single screens and multiplexs. But the main thing which helped bang bang is its 3 open weeks. SR was criticized by many critics too.
