Salman Khan’s Sultan was extraordinary yet again on its 5th day at the box office. The growth in business is decent (2 – 5 – 10%), which in itself is outstanding because the film was running at insanely high levels of occupancy throughout the weekend.
The fact that collections actually improved on Sunday is a big plus for the film and sets it up quite well for the test on Monday.
As per early estimates, Sultan has collected Rs 39 crore on Sunday at the box office. The film was record-breaking at multiplexes – with a majority of shows running to running to 100% occupancy from morning to night. There was a small dip late night, which tends to happen for most releases on Sunday.
More importantly, the first extended weekend of Sultan has delighted exhibitors all over the country. At several small centres, the film was sold out for the entire weekend with centres recording 100% occupancy for the entire weekend. These were centres that were running to very low occupancy over the weekend for most films this year.
The first extended weekend collections has crossed the 180 crore mark for the first time ever. The collections of films like Dhoom 3 and Bajrangi Bhaijaan was at this level for the entire first week.
Sultan was one of the fastest films to the 100 crore club, it was the fastest to 150 crore and it’ll now, most certainly, become the fastest to 200 crore too. Can it do so in 6 days i.e by tomorrow? That’s the big question. If it does manage to hold strongly from Monday to Thursday, Sultan will have very high chances of surpassing PK to become the highest grosser of all time. That’s the only feather missing in Salman Khan’s cap – ever since he began the decade of utter domination.

I am impressed with the box office collection. Salman to rule for upcoming many Eids. I am a decent movie fan first and Salman fan after that. I watched the movie in US with many of my friends today. BB was a much better movie than Sultan. It does not surprise me that why the movie is doing good in India. It has all the ingredients that an Indian public wants in a movie. Comedy, action and ample dose of emotion. Wish the movie was 20 odd minutes shorter and tighter editing. I am a tough critic and will give 3 stars
the real opening day collection of HNY is 36 crores.. Every trade pundit says that it is 36 crores…only stupid people can believe that it is 45 crore..hahahahaha

Am a very very hard person to acknowledge quality acting, average acting and artificial acting.. not only being an Ajay fan but also an admirer of Shah Rukh and Aamir acting attributes… Probably Hrithik the closest to them.. So when convincing me.. Ystrdae I ve managed 2 watch dis movie actually wanted to see it since ist dae bt was extremely busy.
I found ist half really good and entertaining.. Salman Khan entry scene had tremendous screen presence never clapped whistle or scream dat much barring akshay Kumar entry scene in his movies and the background sound ‘ khoon me tera mitti,mitti pe tera khoon’ gave me a goosebumps.
2nd half was bit slow and really disappointed with a MMA fights being myself a martial artist coz it had nothing to offer salman khan was doing dhobi pacchar even other fighters were also not convincing may b director didn’t want dem to as it can overshadow d heroism of Salman khan.. I think those scenes cld ve been good wit salman khan been bit more capable of doing those kinds of action.. Those parts of the movie reminded me of brother.. Only difference was dat brother had only MMA scene after interval and was bit urban kind whereas sultan had songs and other important scenes in between and d best thing is dat it had dat desi flavour which is y it is been liked by family audience. The climax was very much predictable but overall a full paisa wasool movie only coz of Salman Khan great screen presence and background music.

We Aamir fans are happy about Sultan’s collections, and have no problem with it crossing PK.
Aamir was #1 in India and overseas as per Indicines list for last few years and we are happy about it.
Now Sultan will replace Dabangg, Salman will be #1 in India and Aamir will be #1 in overseas. Both deserve it.
