Salman Khan’s Sultan was extraordinary yet again on its 5th day at the box office. The growth in business is decent (2 – 5 – 10%), which in itself is outstanding because the film was running at insanely high levels of occupancy throughout the weekend.
The fact that collections actually improved on Sunday is a big plus for the film and sets it up quite well for the test on Monday.
As per early estimates, Sultan has collected Rs 39 crore on Sunday at the box office. The film was record-breaking at multiplexes – with a majority of shows running to running to 100% occupancy from morning to night. There was a small dip late night, which tends to happen for most releases on Sunday.
More importantly, the first extended weekend of Sultan has delighted exhibitors all over the country. At several small centres, the film was sold out for the entire weekend with centres recording 100% occupancy for the entire weekend. These were centres that were running to very low occupancy over the weekend for most films this year.
The first extended weekend collections has crossed the 180 crore mark for the first time ever. The collections of films like Dhoom 3 and Bajrangi Bhaijaan was at this level for the entire first week.
Sultan was one of the fastest films to the 100 crore club, it was the fastest to 150 crore and it’ll now, most certainly, become the fastest to 200 crore too. Can it do so in 6 days i.e by tomorrow? That’s the big question. If it does manage to hold strongly from Monday to Thursday, Sultan will have very high chances of surpassing PK to become the highest grosser of all time. That’s the only feather missing in Salman Khan’s cap – ever since he began the decade of utter domination.

@Challa, I am not surprised as you have come up with some negative points in Sultan. Only minus point in the film is its length. That too, we don’t feel like it is too long because it is an entertaining and emotional rude throughout.
Let me rectify you. Everyone including neutral movie goer will love Sultan except some hardcore SRK fans. ONE doesn’t necessarily be a Salman Fan to love Sultan.

@Anand But according to salman fans they are enough to make any of his movie blockbuster without the support of neutral audience.Anyways the track of Anushka not accepting Salman’s apology for years when it was also Salman’s kid and he’s equally repentant about it is just cringe worthy.The 1st half was brilliant for me.Every time he did that dhobi pachad move the crowd went berserk and there was genuine happiness seeing him beat opponents.But the last couple of fights were just a repetition with Salman getting beaten initially and then suddenly he acquires some divine power and thrashes his opponent.Even the noise subsided in the theatre towards the climax.Btw the concept of Salman fighting himself was a masterstroke and the kite chase sequence was brilliantly executed.
This is just incrrdible. I won’t be surprised if it crosses 350 cr. It’s unstoppable at the movement. I am planning to watch next week because I have busy schedule. Sadly my review will come late because I have my first LT exam.
I criticised the critics because they were completely biased against a brilliant movie like Saala khadoos which perhaps is one of the finest sport movies in recent times but the same ones are going gaga over Sultan.

For your kind information opening of HNY is on par with ETT if not better and of ETT managed to collect 32.94 crore with 2800 screens then it is very much possible for HNY to collect 44.97 crore in 4000 screens and also ETT & HNY got the best opening in terms of occupancy in recent time, even better than Sultan but hats of to Salman and Sultan for collecting 30+ crores for consecutively 5 days..something which is unmatchable in recent time…

In todays Q&A session I read comments from few pages, and I see that around 10-12 users ask about HNY collection, everyone is curious to know how HNY collect 44.5cr while SULTAN not cross even 40cr mark with High Screen Count, High Ticket Price, High Occupancy through out the day and release after 2 year….How is it even possible…..but Indicine avoid all those questions, WHY???
Even I see same question related to HNY in every Q&A session but they never answer…..Well this only proves that even Indicine knows that the HNY collection in highly manipulated and fake but they cannot do anything because they are bound to show the Producer’s Figure, they cannot question them (Producers)….but here my advice to them is whenever you show HNY collection please mention at it’s a Red Chilly Figure and also give the Trade figure next to it may be in bracket….
