Sultan has started very strongly on Sunday, with multiplexes at several centres taking the best start of the week. The advance booking, like we mentioned in one of our reports late last night (read), is extraordinary for the film.
Mumbai circuit, after a comparatively slower start in the first 2-3 days, is now coming into its own. The occupancy for the morning shows was phenomenal in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad.. just to name a few. Rest of India, the story is the same. Sultan is performing at a very high level throughout the country.
It’s a foregone conclusion that Sultan will be the first film to record 30 crore on each of its first 5 days at the box office, but looking at the morning occupancy the film could touch or cross the 40 crore mark on Sunday.
With each passing day, it has also become clear that the word-of-mouth of Sultan is excellent. It’s a combination of star power, along with the film finding appreciation across the country, that’s helping Sultan record such unbelievably high numbers.
How big was Sultan’s Rs 37.1 crore total on the 4th day after its release? Check this out:
- In 2016, it was the 2nd highest single day (after 2nd day of Sultan), 70% higher than the Sunday collections of Housefull 3 (21.8 cr) and nearly twice as big as the first day of FAN (19.2 cr).
- When it comes to all time highest days, Sultan’s Saturday was better than the second day holiday collections of Bajrangi Bhaijaan (36.6 cr), bigger than the opening day of Dhoom 3 (36.22 cr) and better than the first day collections of big films like PK, Chennai Express etc.
- The 4th day collections of Sultan alone would make the film the 10th highest grosser of the year so far.
Sultan is history in the making, as the opening weekend is concerned. The film is re-writing the rules of the trade and there are chances that things could get better from here.

Then why the opening day collections of Sultan was less than that of HNY?
Why was it less even on the 4th Day of Sultan, where the film performed better than the opening day itself?
I know you may say HNY performed than Sultan in the centres or circuits where the ticket prices were more expensive? And Sultan performed better in the circuits where the ticket prices were cheaper.
In that case, there are two things:
1) you gotta consider HNY Ticket prices were more expensive
OR
2) You name the centres or the circuits where it performed better than Sultan dif. Or give us the circuit-wise comparisons.
We will believe in those figures then. These are some meaningful questions. Else, anyone can round up a figure and say ‘my film has earned this much on the opening day.’

I have never gone wrong in predicting the final bo numbers of movies which i loved.
The day of release immediately after watching the movie i said it here on Indicine that it will be highest Grossing movie of all time and Salman Khans second after HAHK.
Salman has earned a lot of reapect from me since I use to criticize him fir chis choice of movies. Even when he signed Sultan Never believed in him & in his choice due to ali abbas. Have huge respect for ali abbas as well.

I watched Sultan yesterday with my family . This was the 9th Salman movie which I watched in theatre in this decade after Dabangg, Bodyguard, ETT, D2, Jai Ho, Kick, BB and PRDP . Sultan is average in my opinion . The first half is boring, dull and long . The 2nd half is better . Salman was better as the Senior Version of Sultan . In the younger version he was pretty ordinary . Anushka was good but she did not look convincing as a Wrestler . Sultan’s friend Govinda has done a brilliant job . Randeep was good in Guest Appearance and Amit Sadh was really good as Aakash . Sultan is Zafar’s Best Movie by a distance but is a missed golden opportunity . They should have given more importance to Wrestling rather than love story . Sultan is better than Ready, Bodyguard, ETT, D2, Kick, Jai Ho and PRDP . But it is not as entertaining as Dabangg nor as engaging as BB . Sultan cannot be called as a Crap but neither it can be called as brilliant, superb and fantastic . This movie is a treat for all the Salman Fans because it has all the commercial elements such as Romance, Comedy, Drama, Wrestling and MMA . The MMA Sequences in the 2nd Half were well choreographed . The length should have been reduced by at least 20 mins . Both the training sequences are absolutely brilliant . Two songs in the movie standout – Jag Ghoomeya and Title Song . Monday’s collections will give us a bright idea whether Sultan can enter 300 CR Club or not ? In short Sultan could have been better . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ridiculously true. Honestly speaking, not as a hater, but even as a neutral Fan, I never expected it will put 30cr+ on five consecutive days.
I have not watched it yet but the way people are going gaga over it , that increases my curiosity about this movie.
Even BB didn’t enjoy such a glorious run though that was one of the best flicks of 2015.

Yesterday I’m watched SULTAN, I can’t get ticket then I buy black ticket with huge price 7000 kyat that ticket normal price only 1800kyat Myanmar money. Family audiences coming unbelievable age coz Salman Khan film haven’t any kissing and sex. In MYANMAR family audiences blindly trust Salman Khan film coz they want pure film not chumma chatti movie.
