Sultan has started very strongly on Sunday, with multiplexes at several centres taking the best start of the week. The advance booking, like we mentioned in one of our reports late last night (read), is extraordinary for the film.
Mumbai circuit, after a comparatively slower start in the first 2-3 days, is now coming into its own. The occupancy for the morning shows was phenomenal in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad.. just to name a few. Rest of India, the story is the same. Sultan is performing at a very high level throughout the country.
It’s a foregone conclusion that Sultan will be the first film to record 30 crore on each of its first 5 days at the box office, but looking at the morning occupancy the film could touch or cross the 40 crore mark on Sunday.
With each passing day, it has also become clear that the word-of-mouth of Sultan is excellent. It’s a combination of star power, along with the film finding appreciation across the country, that’s helping Sultan record such unbelievably high numbers.
How big was Sultan’s Rs 37.1 crore total on the 4th day after its release? Check this out:
- In 2016, it was the 2nd highest single day (after 2nd day of Sultan), 70% higher than the Sunday collections of Housefull 3 (21.8 cr) and nearly twice as big as the first day of FAN (19.2 cr).
- When it comes to all time highest days, Sultan’s Saturday was better than the second day holiday collections of Bajrangi Bhaijaan (36.6 cr), bigger than the opening day of Dhoom 3 (36.22 cr) and better than the first day collections of big films like PK, Chennai Express etc.
- The 4th day collections of Sultan alone would make the film the 10th highest grosser of the year so far.
Sultan is history in the making, as the opening weekend is concerned. The film is re-writing the rules of the trade and there are chances that things could get better from here.

I am hardcore akshay fan……No body knows but Indicine know that….I do like to watch akshay movies in theaters otherwise i do like to watch other movie on TV……….i WATCHED many sports films previously but they all are based only on sports and teams….Yes we do connected with them but never feel touched by them. But when i was watching Sultan i feel strong connection with that movie…I feel that is my story that was me in the movie…Yes i totally agree with the diloge of the movie “Jab zindagi tumhe patke to tum phir khade hou aur aisa dav maaro ki zindagi chit ho jaye”… No one things about the fact why this movie doing good on Box office because every person like me feel strong connection with that movie story…..There are so many part in the movie where one can feel that it was happened or happening with him/her …..This movie is based on wrestling but have a strong social msg.This movie deserve more then 500cr even highest day ever….Hope sunday will bring more then 50cr…………Salman in & as sultan

Indicine please stop giving your early estimates, the collections are always on the lower side disappointing us but now this disappointment has become frustration. Please give lower figures than what you expect from the film for eg: if u expect a film to do 30cr give 27cr-28cr estimate (lower figure have more chances of being accurate + it won’t disappoint people)

@Godfather, please don’t read early estimate article.. It’s better to visit the next day and check out the actual collections. Estimates for such big releases are difficult to make and 90% of centres that we track are multiplexes. So there could always be 5-10% difference estimate and actual.
Such a nobel film must create new record.

Salman is fantastic (after Tere naam ) , sach bat yen hai ke is film KO salman ne apne dum pe logo KO baitha ke rakhha after a long time. I m a huge SRK fan but I admit that salman done a fabulous job.
The film is a perfect family entertainer at least I think so. Thumbs up.
I don’t think ppl should fight because good stuffs always remained good so just calm down and enjoy the success of others also.
