  • @sem thanks. After reading those archieves,I couldn’t understand with which irony they did the ranking.
In 1989 anil kappor had two blockbuster but they put the Big b at 1 despite that Anil kapoor given big hits from 1986 till 1989, no mention for Salman in top 3 who given huge hit.Look how they said Sanjay duty at the top as Amitabh Bachchan declared his retirement from the film.Means if Big b not retired they continue to put big b at no.1 after than too.
In 1993 Govind had Aankhen which became atbb and at no.2, srk while at 3.
But when Sanjay duty went jail, srk came at no1 without a single hit in 1994,if you open 1994,srk had no film neither in top grosser nor in top huts in top10.While Govinda still had hit which was at top 5,but srk came at top.
They decided 1990 era in two segments one pre hahk and second after hahk but Sakman had no place in top 3.Srk had come at top ahead of govind who able to give solo hit consistently in 1990s with 3 hit before karan arjun came, 2 were multistarrer where sunny deol and rishi kapoor was major draw.
Aamir and sunny had no place in top 3 in 1990, specially sunny who had big hit Ghayal and Ram Avtar.
Srk hit count – blank in 1994,
At 2003 they said salman had huge comeback with tere naam which not big hit but great opening. In 2004 Garv had taken one of the best opening in year and mujhse dosti karogi was hit.
In 2005 srk had not an avg grosser ,Salman had in top league but still srk at top when paheli got poor opening despite it has Srk-Rani hit pair.So both in star power and success srk lagged still he was at no. 1. Similarly in 2006 when dhoom 2 and krishh had bumper opening, srk remain at top while he had two hit and two non opener flop in last 4 films.Hrithik in his last 4 had 3 blockbuster and 1 below avg.
    Boi ranking was huge debatable.
I can agree if there was no huge openers and big blockbuster in 2005-06 when srk still was no. 1, but he lacks behind as his paheli and swades wasn’t even opened well.I can agree with swades as he had two big hit in 2004 already but his solo paheli was non opener. It raise eyebrows than why he failed with non commercial film.
Chak de India had below avg opening in 2007, why srk not able to open non commercial looking film even good response at time, questions the whole ranking system of boi.
I am still waiting for your logic that how came srk came at no. 1 without big hit.If it was logic than Ranbir should be ahead than srk and Aamir in 2012 When Barfi outdone jthj and talaash with that logic.Aamir remain at no. 1 in 2010 without release while Salman had atbb (Dabangg was declared initially atbb) at no. 3,even veer opened very well.srk at no. 2. With this logic salman should at no. In 1994 as well as 1995 as he had one bb also in 1995 with Ka,ddlj didn’t crossed hahk too.

  • I saw the movie Haider tonight on a dvd.. I remember in Big Star awards Shahid Kapoor won the award as best actor.. well he deserves it with Aamir Khan.. when two actors deserve the same award.. how could they make “justice” to both actors?!! I think that they’ve to give 2 awards, as the 2 of them really deserve to win.

Loved the cinematography of the film, the direction, Tabbu too deserves the award in a supporting role.

  • STAR RANKING CRITERIA

The star rankings are based on box office gross figures for the first weekend. The first weekend is the biggest barometer for star power, from Monday the box office collection is dependent more on how the public takes to a film rather than star power. The rankings are based purely on opening weekend gross collections and do not take anything else into account.

    CRITERIA INDIA

    1. Extended/Special appearances and delayed films are not included. Films that have a smaller release than normal are also not included as they have little chance of getting near thresholds.

    2. Threshold figures are set at a rate which would be regarded as a good weekend for that respective time.

    3. One point is give for every 10 lakhs that a film crosses the threshold. One point is taken off every 10 lakh that a film stays below the threshold. Eg Threshold 20 cr, Weekend Gross 24.50 cr means 45 points.

    4. The points stay for 18 months from release date. After 18 months 5% of the points is deducted every month so after 38 months the film’s value becomes zero and is not included in the chart. Films with minus values have 5% added after 18 months so their value is also zero after 38 months. If the film has a value of zero its stays as it is for the whole 38 months. An 18 month old film has less value to the current star situation but cannot also be washed away and so it is slowly petered out in the BoxOfficeIndia rankings.

  • @sky v can get as many information as possible anyeays thanks for taking intrest and hope you understand its not about googling its about intrest

  • to be “justice” to some deserving films, I think they should select this way:

    Best film: Queen
    Best direction: PK
    Best story: Highway
Best Cinematography & best Drama film: Haider.

  • @sem I agree that star ranking is about opening especially first 3 days, but that’s why I said about srk for 1994 as not any film of him opened very well at no,similarly with paheli in 2005.
And this criteria is simply flawed, for example star ranking should be based on how well a film is being made. Many actors today can have huge weekend on festive occasion when they have universal film but how well a film should be made,it should be better criteria.Any actor like Salman, srk,Aamir,Akshay or Hrithik etc became huge box office draw sooner or later just because of good films they did in their career.Only a good film can give your stardom increase manifold rather than poor film.
For example Salman had huge opening in last decade before wanted many time but we still called a bad decade for him in comparison to srk,hr,Aamir or Akshay.
I know their criteria but a star is always remain star if he had good films otherwise we had debacles like Rajesh Khanna who was first superstar and having a unbreakable record with 15 hits in 3 years which may break by srk in 2016-2017 but it require 10 year from srk too.
There are many things of Indicine which I don’t liked but I simply loved their star ranking criteria as on today time you can’t expect a very well made film of a unknown star to even pass 100 cr without having buzz, exception always there but very less.Only lifetime collection can measure for star ranking that how good product an actor given to audience. I am not saying its only because Aamir didn’t had much good in their ranking as he also got suffered in 90s but its uundigestable for me now to follow their star criteria.
A recent example they said Salman is biggest draw at current box office but if there was no Aamir in pk or no srk in hny can audience came to theatre at large no.No.
Srk with CE and Aamir with pk and d3 given all time grosser, can you imagine a ranveer Singh or arjun kappor can made CE or pk all time grosser.
No doubt content make a film better in weekday but ultimately it stars who attract to majority of audience to watch film if it had good product as in India people wirshipps stars not directors or story men.As simple is that.

  • @sem slight correction in my above comment, yes movies like Maine pyar kiya or kaho naa pyaar h were been biggest grosser of the respective year but these thing were forgone conclusion now a days.As film business is now restricted to first week only so the scope of huge grosser from newcomer is almost impossible. And please don’t expect me to follow their ranking I was followed earlier but when I gone through some blogs of others on nets for their ranking fundamentals.I got surprised with their method which swings according to their needs.I respect your opinion and your interest in these thing,I also have some but huge fundamental mistakes can’t be ignored.
And there is always a thing that people remember is a good film whoever the star it had. These box office is just a number that how many watched the film or liked but it not guaranteed the majority faith.
People will always remember and appreciate film like sarfarosh,lagaan,jjws,qsqt,AAA,rdb,tzp,3i,pk more than Dil,raja Hindustani or d3.
Similarly srk always remembered for daar, swades, baazigar, ddlj,vz,cdi etc rather than films like oso,hny,CE,ra1 etc which were huge money spinners and easily forgettable.

  • @sky the things which differ big b & srk from their respective contrempraries is their consistant performance at boxoffice…..

  • @sky each system have sone errors & problems…may they gave more priority to opening by criteria but they give movie a specific tym for count in ranking and ststem while in the basis if last 5 movie criteria amir 2008 movie going to count till dec 2016 …they have not mentioned but they also include lyftym bussiness into criteria…

  • Very Disgusting. Salman Khan is not nominated for best actor Award.
Salman should be included instead of SRK and Varun Dhawan.
All awards are losing thier dignity. Actors Category PK-Aamir and Shahid in HAIDER and Salman in KICK.
    Director:- Hirani (PK)
    Best debut director:- Sajid Nadiadwala(KICK)

Salman deserved to be in best actor award nomination. aamir should win the best actor award.

  • where is the best performance in a negative role for female

that would be Madhuri dixit for Dedh ishqiya.

    and

Madhuri dixit must nominated for best actoress for Gulab gang

  • Since every person has a right to be opinionated,,, I agree to most of the comments stated above. Like WWE is totally fake, in the same way I reckon award ceremonies are also tending to become fake…

Aamir Khan should win the award for PK for all award ceremonies… As it is PK only which toppled over the other movies of 2014.

Kangana Renaut definitely should win the best actress award for her performance for Queen…

Yes, Randeep Hooda did very well in Highway, so did Alia

Akshay Kumar in Holiday, Shahid in Haider, Tabu in Haider as well, Parineeti Chopra in Hasse to Phasee but Priyanka in Mary kom which was also not bad a performance but it was a biopic after all… Unlike Farhan Akhter, although a biopic of Milka Singh, he, Farhan did a fabulous job in the movie for which he did win all the awards of the year which he truly deserved…

I do not understand from where Shah Rukh Khan is all the time nominated when there was nothing to like much about his film, Happy New Year… for this very reason awards ceremonies have been stated as being fake by the comments in this page…

Ajay Devgan did good in Singham returns, how come the focus goes on Shah Rukh Khan, like rightly stated in one of the comments read that they want Shah Rukh Khan to attend thus they give him a award…

best villain should have surely gone to Nawazuddin from where Ritesh got it is a concern or though to ponder over…

Salman did well in Kick, no doubt…Arjun Kapoor as learnt did well in 2 states, okay! Rani did very well in Mardani, so how come there was no award for her. Soonam Kapoor also was very good in Khoobsurat, so how come she was not awarded for it… New comer award should have gone to Fawad Afzal Khan too but it’s fine if Tiger Sheroff got it and he deserved it too.

Bang Bang won for best choreographer which was deserving…If there were any awards for horror movies then it should have been awarded surely to Bipasha Basu…

If award functions will be based in favoritism and not by the individuals hard work then it is not fair and by the way people stop thinking of Shah Rukh Khan as the king or even call him one… There is no actor in the film fraternity who can beat Mr. Amitabh Bachan and then Aamir Khan… Although Shah Rukh Khan does act well although his performance in Chennai Express was over acted and over exaggerated and in Happy New Year like Ms. Jaya Bachan rightly said nonsensical movie…

I wish Aamir wins all the remaining awards ‘cuase he truly deserves irrespective of him not attending the fake award ceremonies and Kangana for Queen…

  • where varun dhawan and arjun kapoor can be nominated for their movies then how it is possible that SIDDHARTH MALHOTRA is not nominated also!!!!!!!!….why the movie EK VILLAIN has ignored in every section??? the Songs of this movie was the best ……..jst dont no why the country like India is doing such kind of partiality ! shame…gr8 shame!
