2007 was one of the best years for Shahrukh Khan as he had one hugely critically and commercially appreciated film in ‘Chak De India’ and one out-an-out commercial film in ‘Om Shanti Om’. In 2015, the superstar has two keenly-awaited films lined up for release – while ‘Fan’ is confirmed to hit screens during the Independence Day weekend this year, ‘Raees’ is likely to release next year.
There are also unconfirmed reports that Shahrukh Khan will start shooting for a Rohit Shetty film in April (2015), after the first schedule of Raees and release the film during Christmas. Either way, we doubt Shahrukh would want to let go of a big release weekend like Christmas this year.
Interestingly, this year has quite a few similarities with 2007. In 2007, Shahrukh had two releases – Chak De India and Om Shanti Om – and both films went on to be box office blockbusters. It’s not just the same number of releases we are talking about. There are quite a few other similarities. (article continued below the image)

- Chak De India was produced by Yash Raj Films and released during the same week as ‘Fan’ (again Yash Raj Films), which is scheduled to release on 14 August.
- Om Shanti Om was the more commercial potboiler, which could be 2015’s film with Rohit Shetty.
The stars of the other actors match up too
- Akshay Kumar had 4 releases in 2007 (Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiya and Welcome) and this year too he has the same number of films. In fact, the sequel of Welcome Back releases this year, even though it doesn’t feature Akshay.
- Hrithik Roshan had no release in 2007, but was busy shooting for ‘Jodha Akbar’ which was scheduled for release in the first half of 2008. Ironically, this year he has no release, and his next is with the director of Jodha Akbar – Ashutosh Gowariker for Mohenjodaro early next year.
- 2007 was a turning point in Shahid Kapoor’s career as he featured in Imitiaz Ali’s Jab We Met. This year, he will be seen in ‘Queen’ director’s next titled ‘Shandaar’ produced by Dharma Productions. Shahid has also said that Alia, his co-star in ‘Shandaar’ reminds him of Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met.
The future always resembles itself to the past. Do you think 2015 will be the new 2007? Will Fan be 2015’s Chak De India? Similarly Akshay’s line-up of films looks exciting too, will he be able to deliver a memorable film like Namaste London again this year? Only time will tell.

Release date will b very crucial this time around…Srk has a huge fan base…!! If Happy New year could get big numbers I won’t b surprise if his movies get huge numbers irrespective of d content!! But honestly we should all accept that as age is coming we shouldn’t blindly perceive d past for SRK.
I would love a chak de India kind of movie or mnik for now.
As for Akshay yeah I think he will get huge numbers for 2/4 of his movies.. Still I don’t know y he keeps on signing 4 movies a year cos his damn rich!!! Definitely a very huge star in India uptil now but like srk age is not on his side too.

But Raees won’t be years highest grosser like OSO but if Rohit’s next releases this year then it can repeat the magic of OSO and can become years highest grosser if PRDP is unable to create the magic of Suraj – Salman’s previous movies….
I don’t think so, first thing in 2007 srk was quite popular especially in his non fans too who keen to watch his films and I don’t think 2007 will repeat for him neither for Akki nor for srk..
Though must Say CDI and Namaste London are my most fav srk and akki film.

Not in 2015 for sure, it looks highly unlikely that either of srk’s movies would be year’s biggest grossers ahead of salman’s BB & PRDP, if fan & raees are content based movies then so are PRDP & to an extent BB, almost 100% sure that 2015’s highest grosser would be PRDP followed by BB and then fan & raees, so our king will not be having the year’s highest grosser for 8 years in a row, srk should feel proud of this record. PRDP could well turn out to an another immortal classic like MPK or HAHK!
Yes 2007 could take again Srk to the top spot since he has an interesting line of films.Fan and Raees will finally give us the old Srk back and Rohit’s next has the potential to do humongous business.Best of luck for the next year

They were comparing pk with 3i and two Salman films ETT and Hank.
They were saying Hank would have collected 650cr with this ticket rates.A 20 year old film when there were no or less piracy and film used to run more than 1 year when today when pk released even in rural area people have phones and sharing movie from mobile to mobile to watch.I also know pk footfalls will be less from 3i as pk is not as great as 3i was.But comparison with ett on what basis neither that film was highest grosser of all time or released in 2014.
For example they were comparing avg ticket rates of ett with pk while from ett to pk ticket rates had been increased 4 times as CE,kick,hny and pk all had increase rates.So if ett was 150rs avg and pk is 195 than there is 30% increase and its not like that pk had 30% increase on avg.Expecting a 3 cr footfalls is quite impossible because 3i footfalls was 2.8 cr and only Aamir last 2 film managed to have 2.5cr footfalls first d3 now pk.
I simply laughed and amazed with this special article specially the comparison.
A comparison with CE as it was all time grosser or with kick or hny which released this year but with ett who release almost 2 and half year and Hank which released 20 years ago was a nonsense.
