Over the past one year, there has been immense speculation over the films Shahrukh Khan will do, after he isdone with Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express and Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. Most of the big name directors have been reported to have scripts ready for a film with SRK, but how much of the reportage holds true in actual terms is not very clear.
Let’s discuss the probability of each of those individual films happening.
Who will he work with after Chennai Express and Happy New Year?
A for Apple, B for Billi, C for Cutta: SRK was quoted as having said in an interview that he will start this film once he finishes Happy New Year. But talk about this film from his inner circle has gone low, and there are murmurs he may end up only producing this film. For starters, ABC is a slice-of-life film based in Delhi about a commoner who struggles to cope up because of his inability to master the Queen’s language.
R. Balki’s film: Amitabh Bachchan has been asked about this collaboration with R. Balki and Shahrukh on Twitter many times over the past few months and he has replied back more than once saying that he hopes this film materializes. A film bringing together the Shehenshah and the King Khan handled by a able director will be a feast for Hindi film viewers, if it happens.
Rahul Dholakia’s film, produced by Farhan-Ritesh’s Excel Entertainment: Not much is known about the film except for the fact that it is about a small-time Gujarati smuggler who smuggles alcohol into the alcohol-free state and becomes a big Don. The film maybe officially announced before Chennai Express releases. However, it’s controversial nature may keep SRK from going through with it.
Anurag Kashyap’s film: There was chatter in the news until recently that SRK is really looking forward to work with Anurag Kashyap and had asked him to write a script for him. Insiders close to the director say that Anurag will start working on the “highly commercial” film once he finishes Bombay Velvet, and if the script gets SRK’s nod, they start filming sometime in 2015.
Other rumours: SRK has been keen to work with Anurag Basu for a long time and there have been many interactions between the two regarding doing a film together. Their collaboration will happen at some point of time in the future and it is too early to divulge the specifics.
AR Murugadoss has gone to SRK with every Hindi script he has written post the release of Ghajini, but the actor has refused them all stating that he doesn’t want to be a part of a Southern remake. He has apparently asked Murugadoss to come up with an original Hindi script for him.
Ashutosh Gowariker has been lying low since the release of his last film ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se” and is planning to come back with a bang with Swades 2. The script is almost finished and it deals with the next chapter in Mohan Bhargav’s life and how he deals with a few more of rural India’s problems.
Other than all the above mentioned projects, films with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Prabhu Deva, and biopics of Dhyanchand and Kasabha Jadav have made gossip columns. But most of these films seem farfetched at this point with Shahrukh already having so much on his plate.
Eitherway, the next phase of SRK’s career starts now and the films he chooses will be looked at closely by everyone who is associated with Hindi cinema.

I am just waiting for swadesh 2 bcuz swadesh is my all time favourite movie. It’s a big shock that movie didnt do well and I liked the actress in the movie. If it’s being remade again then I would like to see the same actress. Other then swadesh 2, I want SRK to work Sanjay leela Bansali
@Gewone : This should be awarded as joke from the overseas ‘no one has done what srk did to yrf’. Let me help you remind my overseas foe that Salman earned highest grosser for yrf with ETT (199 crores) whereas srk didnt even cross 119 crores with any yrf movie. And I am talking about domestic collections. Dharma productions is known before srk though srk only helped KJo as a friend to become one of the well known director.

I too appreciate you man and also want to tell you that SRK has ruled Bollywood at one time. Neha Dhupia had once given an interview saying a movie will be hit if there is sex or Srk.
That shows his potential as a boxoffice hero if there is no SRK then sex would have probably ruled Bollywood at one time. His love stories helped Bollywood in bigway in terms of quality and quantity. It also bought in the overseas audience.

In my opinion Shahrukh should now concentrate on films that have box office potential rather than critically appreciated movies as he is one of the senior stars. He has seen critical success at the beginning phase of his career so he should opt for commercial movies
1. AR MurugaDoss — Some gripping story never before attempted genre in india with lots of action part and twist. Give us a Roller coaster ride
2. ADITYA Chopra —– After DDLJ and RNBJ we can expect a lovestory being suited to his age and yrf always have good boxoffice returns in india Srk is enough for overseas
3. DON 3 —— Don 2 Story was nice but it had executed like an hollywood format but dear director farhan akthar should think some masala should be incorporated to the movie
4.Karan johar——->>> A movie on some family Drama or any particular genre which holds in an celebration mood for them
5.Vishal Bharadwaj—->>Adaptation of Merchant of venice a shakespeare play
6.Ashutosh Gowarikar–>>Periodic Adventure rather than story telling or best option is SWADESH 2
7.Anurag Kashyap–>>Gangster movie with no filthy language
8.Kabir Khan—>>Any movie as the directors wish all his movies were too good to praise him
9.Karan Malhothra—>>Hope he doeas something intense role with king khan
10.Vijay Krishna Acharya/Sanjay Gadhvi-for Dhoom Prequel hope this will give new idea for film makers
But I hope he stays away from these directors – Sajid khan, farah khan, prabhu deva, rohit shetty, and also directors who are too offbeat.

There is a saying in the world of cinema – “you are as good as your last movie”, and we all know how great was srk’s last movie, which struggled to get past 100 cr in two weeks and generated lowest trp on its tv debut. So, guys don’t talk about past and talk of present, and let us see how a holiday release of srk does this year compared to that of Sallu’s last 3 years. Now, no excuse of competition too.

@Aki he does remakes but not from south he does not follow any south actor movies as he prefers only bollywood classics but surely i say he even challenged Dilip kumar in acting wise for Devdas and the movie became a brand itself due to overbudget film was just a hit or above avg but don was under performed it would have worked if another director had taken Farhan akthar is nicebut he should not get the mind for indian audience in commercial sense
As a hrithik fan with open mindedly saying that at one part of time in bollywood where all abusive genres have ruled roost then srk was the only saving grace to the industry with giving good film by contributing it in a very big way those are the days they were history and facts Blockbusters are nothing to do its only the contribution to sustain bollywood in long term gain otherwise if we solely concentrate on SHORT TERM GAINS we have to suffer from LONG TERM LOSSES
