Singh Is King released world wide today and the Akshay Kumar movie is off to a historic opening at the box-office. The preview shows across the country were houseful. Shows for the entire weekend are sold out. In North India, its tough to get tickets for the movie at single screens or Multiplexes.
A few multiplexes are showing only Singh is King across all screens. The movie which releases on more than 1000 prints in India looks set to beat the opening week records set by Shahrukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om and Hrithik Roshan’s Dhoom 2.
With a budget of 50 crores and more spent on marketing, Singh is King needs atleast 58 crores+ to be a hit. The craze and hype will ensure 40+ crores in Week 1, how the movie performs in the second week will be the key. Most movies released on such huge number of prints crash in the second week, but with Singh is King even a 50% – 55% crash shouldnt affect its box-office outcome.

The craze in Pakistan is unbelievable. Most shows are sold out, it will most certainly go on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.
In UK, the preview shows were sold out.. The craze for the film has to be seen to be believed. Akshay Kumar is a big star in UK and the movie is set to beat some serious box-office records. The numbers will be out by Tuesday morning (IST). So stay tuned.
Going by the initial reports our Box office Collections Prediction for Singh is King in India
Week 1 – 46 crores
Week 2 – 21 crores
Week 3 – 11 crores
Rest of the weeks – 10 crores
Total : Around 88 – 90 crores. (Superhit – Blockbuster)
So the question is, can Singh Is King beat the overall Nett Gross of blockbusters like Dhoom 2 and Om Shanti Om? If Singh Is King goes on to exceed the intial prediction, does it mean he has beaten SRK in the numbers game?

To all of u who think that Akshay didn’t have any affair before marriage except with Shilpa Shitty..For sure, he was involved with Ravina Tandun and he broke her heart, didn’t marry her.
I remember once I was reading an indian magazine ( I think it was stardust) and it was during those days when Akshays was a play boy, they interviewed Madhuri Dixit and asked her what would be her response if some actors asked her to marry them, and when it came to Akshay Kumar, she replied: I have to take permission from all his girl friends, if they agree!!
Akshay was well known that he was a loverboy and was never serious about any girl.
What is past is past, I didn’t want to go into all this but as someone mentioned that Shilpa was the only, girl in his life b4 marriage, therefore, I’m correcting his information as it’s obvious that he never read or heard any news in the past about film stars specially Akshay Kumar.

I think Hirthik is ok but he definately isn’t a better actor than Akki, he tends to do the most overacting when it comes to comedy, Akki for me has done better films than him, for example Sangharsh, Jaanwaar, Aab Tumare Watan saathiyo, Namastey London, Khakee, Ajnabee, Aankhein, just look at these handful of films with good script Akki has done. Even in Average films Akki’s performance is 100%, just Like how BigB was in70s where in bad films he still gave great performances.

What Gained Akshay respect for me, is he so humble, in the film Aab Tumare Waatan Saathiyo, Akki wanted to turn down the role as the army general because he didn’t want to mouth anti Pakistani dialogue, then the director in Akki’s request chanded the dialogues and gave a soft dialogue that doesn’t hurt any Pakistani’s or muslim people.
yes, akshay kumar is a very humble man, very decent and down to earth. in short, he is a nice guy and does not know how to hurt people or manipulate them. he is unselfish and very hardworking. his hard work has taken him to the position he is in today, without the help of others. unlike shah rukh who is the opposite in nature, and has built his career working with big banners only, to ensure success.

fathiya, you are wrong about akshay breaking shilpa’s heart. do your research first before making a comment. the truth is akshay did propose marriage to shilpa, but she declined, because she had her career ahead of her and did not want to get married. akshay was the one who was heartbroken due to this. he then went ahead and married twinkle. his mother was forcing him to tie the knot so he couldn’t wait around for shilpa. besides he knew shilpa was not the right girl to be a bahu. if she really loved akshay then she would not have said no.. akshay knew this and then decided shilpa was not the right person for him.
that is the truth.
marrying twinkle was the best thing to have ever happened to akshay. after his marriage to twinkle his life changed for the better. the moment he married twinkle, his career went from strength to strength and now he is the biggest superstar in the country. before his marriage to twinkle, his career was not going anywhere and he was giving flops after flops. he was less than a mediocre actor., and he wasn’t going nowhere. if he had married shilpa, i can assure you they would have divorced by now and would have had fights on a regular basis, as shilpa is a fame hungry women. akshay would have remained a mediocre actor and would probably still be a struggling actor..

it is a common known fact that there is a cold war going on between amitabh and shah rukh khan. everybody in the film industry knows this. it started when sha rukh khan disrespected amitabh at an awards function some years ago, where he had a problem with amitabh being seated at the front row. he was angry that amitabh was being given better treatment than him. and started bad mouthing amitabh in front of a few people. this was in the papers !! now, what kind of a person disrespects a humble senior man like amitabh ?
with mithun chakraborty, shah rukh khan disrespected him when mithun made a comeback 3 years ago. mithun was in the same area as shah rukh. all the fans recognised mithun and rushed towards him. this did not go down well with shah rukh for some absurd reason. later when mithun went to greet shah rukh and shake his hand, shah rukh completely blanked him out and walked away. this was also in the papers and in various internet blogs !
and we all know the recent incident between salman and shah rukh.

I liked Tu Chor Main Sipahi and Angaaray, Arzoo was not too good but Akki’s action saves the film into being adisaster, Sangharsh for me is Akki’s best performance, this was a remake of Silence of Lamb which won Oscar. Akki just plays perfectly as a copper and then we have Sharukh’s 1 2 Ka 4, yuck what gross overacting, the guy cant act as a copper.
