Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is set to dominate the Eid weekend once again, as the star power of the actor has earned his upcoming release ‘Sultan’ the second most lucrative release period of the year.
The under-performance of Dilwale and the failure of FAN is one of the reasons why Raees has moved, but to give credit where credit is due – taking on Salman Khan is not an option that anyone in the industry has at this point in time. His fan-following, especially at smaller centres, is light years ahead of everyone else and more so during the weekend that he has dominated for nearly 6 years.
Every Eid release, right from Dabangg in 2010 to Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015, has been a blockbuster or better – which is a phenomenal, never before achieved, record.
We had written an article just before the release of Chennai Express in 2013, which was titled ‘Bollywood clashes – Might Is Right‘. The article still holds true today. Unless the makers are extremely confident of the content of their films, it’s the bigger star who will always get the bigger dates.
It’s not about the history of your successful clashes or your past achievements, but for the trade, it’s all about an actor’s current standing in the industry. It’s all about business at the end of the day and whoever can generate higher footfalls in theatres, will be given the first preference (i.e bigger release at single-screens and higher number of shows at multiplexes – if there is a clash).
So it’ll be Sultan on Eid this year. Solo.
The film releases in theatres on July 6 (Wednesday), which would give it a 5-day extended weekend. It has 16 open days before the release of ‘Great Grand Masti’ on July 22. If content clicks, get ready for yet another Salman Khan blockbuster.

Its not that. Look deeper. Its how this non-actor, poor man’s Rajnikanth is winning hearts and minds are Box Office with poorer, cheap, knock-off south BB remakes and garbage masala.
SRK films from past 6 years have no bromance, no lead heroine, no item songs, no strong supporting casts. Just SRK. Hence, his movies are crashing from Monday itself.
To make matters worst. SRKs arrogancy, stubborness has costed him 3 IDIOTS, P.K., ETT and BB. Its shocking that a complete actor of his calibre has lost out on all 4 ATBBs just to fill his and his own wife’s ego of being a producer of every one of his films.
Instead, SRK has worked with garbage like SHETTY, FARAH. Even Devgan & Akshay, much lesser stars have abandoned this trash.
Until FAN, SRK films neither had Quality nor Masala. Infact, SRK is the only actor living off his past glouries as everyone of his recent movies like CE, HNY use references after references from his past cult classics.
With completely surrending RAEES to YRFs and SULTAN this EID, SRKs superstardom is finished. OVER!. Like it or not. It was a great 2 decade Journey from 1993-2003. Its highly respectfuly and longest imo. 10 yrs longer than “One man industry”. Superstar Bachchan.
Its how SRK became insecure and chickened out of EID and SULTAN. Not having faith in his own product is the worst you can do. So what, Even if RAEES severely underperforms, he would’ve had massive winning BO recored against masses superstar Salman with 4-1.
It is how SRK at age 50 has become weak, selfish, calculated, risk taker. He does not even have a courage to say ‘shut up’ to Ritesh and Gauri and take matters in his own hand. This is shocking!
While Salman is spending time on shoots and saying ‘no’ to any home (arbaz, sohail) or friends (sajid nadiadwala etc) productions, SRK ran shamelessly faster than he can to Aditya to sign next YRF big release without even reading the script. Instead, SRK is spending time on Parties and KKR matches.
A superstar or star cannot survive long past age 50 after making continious poor decisions.
I expect RAEES to be his biggest flop of career. 40-50 crores at best.
Dont listen to trade analysts being happy & all that. audiences will avoid RAEES big time.
Another terrorist incident like hoshiyarpur or pathankot, Mahira Khan will be specifically targeted.
Everyone neutral audience will make sure BAADSHAHO and KAABIL become BlockBuster before RAEES even cross 40 crore in competition.

Srk is way better and consistent throughout his career no one can compare his stardom..He is only d international icon of India. .ups and down r d parts of life.. These r d dark days for him BT soon it ll pass away .Srk has best success ratio among all bolly wood stars..We should proud of him..
