The release of Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’ has been postponed due to pending work on “world class VFX”. The film will now release in theatres during the Republic Day weekend next year.
“We are working on world class VFX, and it is taking time. An extensive portion of the visual effects work will be carried out in the USA, and our team is working in full swing now. So, we have zeroed in on January 25th, 2018 as the worldwide release date” Raju Mahalingam of Lyca Productions said.
The sequel to the 2010 film ‘Enthiran’ also features Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who plays the lead antagonist.
The postponement of ‘Robot 2.0’ sets up a direct Diwali clash between Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again and Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar.
For the Republic Day weekend next year, two films have already been announced – Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary and Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chandamama Door Ke. Robot 2.0 is the third and biggest film for the week.

I have objection calling every other star as superstar. The word has lost its value. The actor who never gave a single ATBB is called superstar. When it comes bollywood only SK, AK and SRK is qualified to be called superstars.
THERE SHOULD BE A RULE MADEIN THE INDUSTRY..IF SOMEONE FAILS TO FULLFIL HIS/HER COMMITMENTS AFTER BOOKING THE DATES AND FAIL TO RELEASE THAT MOVIE ON THAT DATE THERE SHOULD BE APENALTY..THIS IS SUCH A RIDICULOUS MOVE.. I MEAN U TRY TO BOOK BIG WEEKENDS AND FAIL TO RELEASE THAT MOVIE ON THAT DAY.. THEN Y TO BE IN HURRY AND BOOK DATES??USELESS AND NONSENSE..I REMEMBER ONE DIALOGUE WHICH SUITS THIS SITUATION PERFECTLY..

Why Makers announce release date in advance when they can’t able to complete films on time ? SRK does right in this matter.He doesn’t announce the release date until shooting of film is at least 50 % completed.only exception is Dwarf movie which he announced 2 years 3 months ago before release.

in my opinion ajay doesnot deserve a big weekend like diwali.i hope the ring announces in diwali.ajay is just agreat and talented actor,he is not a star.even karan johar is more popular than ajay in big cities.
i think golmall series is very overrated .only golmall was good,golmmall again was utter crap and golmall 3 was below average.so i dont think golmall 4 iz going to earn more than 150 crore.

Good move! I thought GA would take that date but it’s 2.0! Anyways it’s good that they’ve averted the clash without any ego. A Rajini film doesn’t need EDX to do well in south and 2.0 can still be a huge grosser in Hindi as well! Let’s see if 2.0 can give Bollywood its first 200 cr on a January.

It’s not new for a shanker film , every shanker film tested patience of millions of fans multiple times , almost all the shanker films changed release dates at least 5 times .. and the film will be released at the peak of the hype . ( The issue is , when a shanker film releases nobody wants to mess with it , so they have to re arrange things whenever shanker and team changes the plan.. and people who thinks 2.0 changed due to clash.. will look like idiots when the teaser is out .. it’s a phenomenon for sure.. how big ?
