For a film released against another biggie, Bang Bang has recorded the highest collections ever on its opening day. For the second highest collections during a ‘clash’, we have to go back a couple of years ago when Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar released on the same day at the box office.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan was released on 2500 screens in India, while Bang Bang has released on 3300-3400 screens (Hindi only). The Yash Chopra film released on Diwali day in November 2012 and collected Rs 15.23 crore.
Bang Bang has collected Rs 27.54 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office. The film released alongside Shahid Kapoor’s Haider.

JTHJ- 2500 screen= 13 cr
while SOS got 1800 screen and collected 9.50 cr.
so please get your facts right before you post.

@ Indicine One question for you What is the official number of Screens that has been given to Bang Bang ? It is 3600 as said by you or 4300 Screens ? Because it is very difficult to get 4300 Screens with a clash . The 1st day collections of the movie are suggesting that the no. Of screens are 3600 . These numbers are brilliant especially in a Clash . I am really happy that Bang Bang has beaten the 1st day collections of Kick despite a clash and getting the lesser no. Of screens as said by you . I will watch Bang Bang today and i will give my review .

watched bang bang today…!!! not very special movie as it seemed from the trailer. i liked it as i went with low expectations after reading the reviews but my friends went with huge expectations and were disappointed and said ch***a kat gaya.
the movie has numerous flaws (the main plot line of robbing kohinoor to stop that treaty is itself very weak point to be taken seriously )
the locations and some action scenes are really brilliant but we had already seen them in the trailer/teaser/dialogue promos/songs (although bullets keep on flying in the movie but not a single bullet touches katrina kaif )
in the whole movie you just keep seeing hrithik(who has done a fabulous job and looks extremely charming) and katrina (who looks very cute and thats it. its better not to talk about her acting talent). there is no scope for any other actor in the movie even though jimmy shergill shines in his 5-10mminutes role (you have to notice the intensity in his eyes when he delivers his dialogues ).
the movie is long and could have been cut a little bit short. (knight and day was not even 2 hours and looked a bit dragged)
bang bang is exactly similar to knight and day (siddharth and hrithik kept on repeating it is not and we will offer you something different) with an extension (bollywood masala of ‘bhai ka badla’)
i think audience should like this because of action scenes and entertainment it provides neglecting the flaws (the only thing which might obstruct its path in touching 200 crores is the huge expectations it carries with it)
carrying so many flaws but still i will say indicine is unfair to bang bang in giving 2.5 stars.
if indicine can give 4 stars to kick then bang bang deserved 4.5 as bang bang is still much much better than kick on any day.

There are no big films lined up for 3 weeks so it will emerge a success..but the question now remains,how big?

Yesterday I called to my friend who is die hard hr fan from our college groups as coincidently yesterday was his birthday and he watched bang bang in Chennai.
I asked him about the film he said the film is OK and because he seen Knight and Day Earlier said that Knd is way better than each segment than Bang-2 apart from Hrithik charisma.He also said that its almost similar to KND but the sequences and location modified unlike Agneepath which had uniqueness in plot despite bring remake. So 3/5 from his side.
I think what went wrong with bang-2 as far as critics concern that hrithik good films track record and amazing teaser which unnecessarily create more than enough hype which is required.Some time mamooth expectation kills the movie and if bang-2 wom is not been more on positive side it will crash from Monday.
Best of luck to Bang-2 and Haider.
Occupancy was highest for any film in 2014, shows collections are great considering its screen size.

babaji i agree bang bang is going housefull at many places but shows are very less compared to biggies… if bang bang had shows like dhoom 3 or even ett it would added 3-4 cr more… this will surely dent its business in the long run … i hope duggu gives a clean hit

How does competition matter when BangBang release in 3300+ screens? Its not a competition when you occupy 75%+ of available screens…. It it was 50-50 screen allocation then it was a competition..
Saw the movie yestday….
Much better then expected after reading reviews( especially indicines, who usually give these kind of movie 4 stars. Wonder why they went all refined taste this week)
But important point….ppl…yes real ppl…..ppl who actually provide the collection, were enjoying the movie
Word of mouth is much more positive then k3……and hence collections are going to be in 20 crore range for the 5 holidays and remain steady afterwards for next 3 weeks.
Now for opening day….only a desperate person can call these figures un impressive….

N comparing with minnow devgun…..I mean the guy had a national holiday solo release, superstar director n still couldn’t beat 4th (working) day collection of k3..
Seriously comparing with 2 of the 3 khans is one thing….but bringing any one else into discussion is jst waste of indicine screen space.
