Bang Bang has collected Rs 27.54 crore on its first day at the domestic box office, making it the 5th highest opener of all time.
The Hrithik Roshan starrer is the 2nd highest opener of 2014 after Singham Returns, which released on higher number of screens and also had significantly higher number of shows at multiplexes.
Bang Bang is the also the biggest opener of Hrithik Roshan’s career and the second higher of Katrina Kaif’s career after Dhoom 3.
The All India occupancy on Thursday was 83%, which is the best for any film released in 2014.
Some points from our box office collection report published earlier today
- Several exhibitors have confirmed to us that the ‘show count’ of Bang Bang at multiplexes was around 20-30% lower than Kick and Jai Ho, and also about 20% lower than Singham Returns.
- Although Fox Star Studios has officially announced that the film has released on 4300 screens in India, trade sources have confirmed to us that the film has released on approx 3500-3600 screens including regional versions, which is the lowest for a big release in 2014.
- The fact that the film was competing with a critically acclaimed film like ‘Haider’, makes the first day business of Bang Bang excellent
- The Top 5 opening of all time before the release of Bang Bang is as follows: Dhoom 3 – 36.22 cr, Chennai Express – 33.12 cr, Ek Tha Tiger – 32.93 cr, Singham Returns – 32.09 cr, Kick – 26.40 cr.

I dont understand why media is always against Hrithik…always give different versions…When K3 crossed 240 crs they said it collected less than 200 cr…When Bang Bang production house confirmed that it released in 4300 screens how can somebody say that it released only on 3300 screens…a 1000 screens makes a huge difference..8-9 crs can be collected in 1000 screens….
If it collects 29 crs in hindi what is total collections in all languages…will it touch 31 crs? I am also totally confused with critics, though i respect it…people who have watched it are giving positive reviews about it….
Even Haider is getting good/avg/negative reviews….if it is good all has to accept it is good, if it is bad all has to accept it as bad…Haider got reviews from 2 to 5…which is illogical…if media it self is confused what people sitting back home will get to know….which is good which is bad…

bang bang is awesome.but if haider becomes critical acclaimed what is problem for bang bang.if haider type movie became acclaimed then family type audience will give it a skip but if bang bang gets negative reviews audience will watch it because critic’s mind is completely satakli from audience’s mind.critics watch movies with brain taht’s why they always bark “this is brainless shit”.haider critical accliam makes way for bang bang.anyways i wish shahid all the best as he is under rated and needs value for his talent which he deserves.what do you think @indicine?
Kick was much more entertaining than this torture of a film. It was a tough task to sit through it. Wasted my time and money. You dont waste

Happy for Hrithik. If you eliminate the holiday factor due to the clash with haider, then 27.5 cr is pretty darn good. It beat KICK’s opening day (movie of supposedly the most popular star in india). Regardless, the baap will show true stardom on Oct 24th with a 40cr opening.
It was expected that BB will not break opening day record of Dhoom 3 as there was a clash with Haider but even without clash it would have been difficult.Now HNY has got outside chance to break opening day record but PK is 100% expected to break opening day record on 19th December.
Dhoom1 is still the overall super film from Dhoom series

It’s hindi only. .with rigional figures,it would be around 29 crores. The negativity is too much like srk’s ra one. Critics,some sites and haterz are trying hard to bring it down.

Excelent considering many factors number of shows competion from highly crictically acalaim haider two big ccl 20 20.now i think wom (word of mouth of audiance not critics ) will deciede where it is going
Bang Bang critics rating is better than ce. And on par wid Jai ho,SR and holiday.
Teaser Good, Music descent, trailer below above average, so film will be semi hit/hit/super hit. My prediction 170 + crore – 180 + crore. (Due 5 days holiday weekend+Katrina Kaif). If it releases without these holidays my prediction would be 105 + crore – 110+ crore for lifetime.

Slightly disappointing but that has to do with FOX n other sources providing misleading info abt screens.BB never got 4300scrns..it released on 3300-3400scr as indicine said and its shows were much lower than kick n sr..i checked on bookmyshow for many cities kick n sr had 16-17 shows while BB only got 12-13 comparable to ek villain n 2states..
