Bang Bang has collected Rs 27.54 crore on its first day at the domestic box office, making it the 5th highest opener of all time.
The Hrithik Roshan starrer is the 2nd highest opener of 2014 after Singham Returns, which released on higher number of screens and also had significantly higher number of shows at multiplexes.
Bang Bang is the also the biggest opener of Hrithik Roshan’s career and the second higher of Katrina Kaif’s career after Dhoom 3.
The All India occupancy on Thursday was 83%, which is the best for any film released in 2014.
Some points from our box office collection report published earlier today
- Several exhibitors have confirmed to us that the ‘show count’ of Bang Bang at multiplexes was around 20-30% lower than Kick and Jai Ho, and also about 20% lower than Singham Returns.
- Although Fox Star Studios has officially announced that the film has released on 4300 screens in India, trade sources have confirmed to us that the film has released on approx 3500-3600 screens including regional versions, which is the lowest for a big release in 2014.
- The fact that the film was competing with a critically acclaimed film like ‘Haider’, makes the first day business of Bang Bang excellent
- The Top 5 opening of all time before the release of Bang Bang is as follows: Dhoom 3 – 36.22 cr, Chennai Express – 33.12 cr, Ek Tha Tiger – 32.93 cr, Singham Returns – 32.09 cr, Kick – 26.40 cr.

Looking at response to the promos, I predicted whopping 35.4 Cr on opening day.But Hrithik u can’t match the stardom of KHANS.

when ur film is getting 3600-3700 screens. there is no meaning if it’s a solo release or it’s a clash.

Below of my expectations. I expected it to cross atleast 34+ crore day one. Hope, it will do better than Krrish3 in coming days.

First of all bang bang has’nt got 3600-3700screens…it has got 3300-3400 and that too with lesser shows per day.In my city kick,SR and even Holiday and Marykom had more shows than BB…And it is the case with most of the cities..
Even i thought that clash would’nt have any effect and predicted 34crs considering it getting 3600scr like SR..

@babaji yes,the shows were less.i agree.But still the collections could have been much higher if the average occupany was 90-95 percent.anyways lets see if today bb’s collection experiences a jump and depending on the trending in the first week ,a clear estimate of its lifetime collections can be made

If Haider didnt release yday, then some 60% of those who saw it would have definitely watched Bang Bang… So opening would have been 2.5-3cr highers… So it does make a difference…
Indicine both fox star & Trade are correct…
Its 4300 screens but a big share of those screens are not showing only Bang Bang…
They are showing both Bang Bang & Haider on same screen at different times.. Many single screens here in hyd are showing 3 shows of Bang Bang & 1show of Haider…
So the screen count can be considered to be lesser & that us what Trade expert say – 3600..

Romance review: bang bang is worse than knight n day, bang bang have less sex scene, action scene compare to nite n day, poor act by katrina, hrtic did to much overacting althoug climax was good scene overwall bellow average. Sid Anand direction is weak . Story is average . Knight & Day is better than bang bang, i’m giving 1/2* n i think bang bang might failed to cross 100cr

accordin to boi ,bang bang collected 24.75 crores hindi and 1.25 crores regional languages.
and kick’s boi figure was 25.99 crores
so BB collection is bigger than KICK with less screens,less stars,clash with a critically acclaimed film,negativity all around!!still some peoples r barking…lol!!enjoying…..now they will come with a excuse of pre EID,debut director,debut cameraman,debut cycle,debut clap board etc etc.
