Bang Bang has collected Rs 27.54 crore on its first day at the domestic box office, making it the 5th highest opener of all time.
The Hrithik Roshan starrer is the 2nd highest opener of 2014 after Singham Returns, which released on higher number of screens and also had significantly higher number of shows at multiplexes.
Bang Bang is the also the biggest opener of Hrithik Roshan’s career and the second higher of Katrina Kaif’s career after Dhoom 3.
The All India occupancy on Thursday was 83%, which is the best for any film released in 2014.
Some points from our box office collection report published earlier today
- Several exhibitors have confirmed to us that the ‘show count’ of Bang Bang at multiplexes was around 20-30% lower than Kick and Jai Ho, and also about 20% lower than Singham Returns.
- Although Fox Star Studios has officially announced that the film has released on 4300 screens in India, trade sources have confirmed to us that the film has released on approx 3500-3600 screens including regional versions, which is the lowest for a big release in 2014.
- The fact that the film was competing with a critically acclaimed film like ‘Haider’, makes the first day business of Bang Bang excellent
- The Top 5 opening of all time before the release of Bang Bang is as follows: Dhoom 3 – 36.22 cr, Chennai Express – 33.12 cr, Ek Tha Tiger – 32.93 cr, Singham Returns – 32.09 cr, Kick – 26.40 cr.

Congrats to them. With clash thats a phenomenal figure. Without clash I think its safe to say D3s record would have been in danger but good figure on the whole.

People who prayed box office inida like a god when Krrish 3 was released should see this time that there is no difference between box office india collection and the official collection shown by fox star studio!! I hope this time the fans of khans will have no excuse!!
No of screens and shows are less because of theator owners not considered Hritik as in the level of khans
It’s a disappointment. I have told before itself ( on predictions page) that anything below 30 cr will be a disappointment. Now some people are talking about clash. I want to ask them how does it actually impacted the collections? Because no. Of screens are almost equal to that of recent biggies like ETT, SR, YJHD etc. Plus the buzz generated for Bang Bang was tremendous. So excuses won’t work. One should accept the fact that Bang Bang has a lots of loopholes and the makers of Bang Bang tried everything (romance, action, comedy) , but they end up with nothing.
Collections will drop gradually and it will end up somewhere between 150-170 cr.
Indicine pls mention if its nly Hindi version or it includes regional Versions too… Pls pls
24.75 crs on first day for hindi version only.. Today it dropped by 20%.. So 20 crs at best for today.. And weekend(3 days) will be around 65 to 70 crs.. I am disappointed as i expected 100 crs for the weekend.. I hope it jumps big on coming days..
watched bang bang today…!!! not very special movie as it seemed from the trailer. i liked it as i went with low expectations after reading the reviews but my friends went with huge expectations and were disappointed and said ch***a kat gaya.
the movie has numerous flaws (the main plot line of robbing kohinoor to stop that treaty is itself very weak point to be taken seriously )
the locations and some action scenes are really brilliant but we had already seen them in the trailer/teaser/dialogue promos/songs (although bullets keep on flying in the movie but not a single bullet touches katrina kaif )
in the whole movie you just keep seeing hrithik(who has done a fabulous job and looks extremely charming) and katrina (who looks very cute and thats it. its better not to talk about her acting talent). there is no scope for any other actor in the movie even though jimmy shergill shines in his 5-10mminutes role (you have to notice the intensity in his eyes when he delivers his dialogues ).
the movie is long and could have been cut a little bit short. (knight and day was not even 2 hours and looked a bit dragged)
bang bang is exactly similar to knight and day (siddharth and hrithik kept on repeating it is not and we will offer you something different) with an extension (bollywood masala of ‘bhai ka badla’)
i think audience should like this because of action scenes and entertainment it provides neglecting the flaws (the only thing which might obstruct its path in touching 200 crores is the huge expectations it carries with it)
carrying so many flaws but still i will say indicine is unfair to bang bang in giving 2.5 stars.
if indicine can give 4 stars to kick then bang bang deserved 4.5 as bang bang is still much much better than kick on any day.

The collections are very good..but I guess it could have been near 30 crore had the single screens maintained the momentum throughput the day..in the long run the mixed reports might play a spoilsport

@Gautam, did you even read the article? It recorded highest occupancy of any film in 2014 so far. A clash = less number screens and also less number of shows on multiplexes.

I didn’t see Kick yet because I was away on vacation during the release date, but I heard ppl said: if u want to enjoy watching it.. just give your brain a vacation then you’ll enjoy!!!!!! hahahaha.. that means that it was also a crap stupid film.
