Some reasons to watch out for My Name Is Khan
- Stars Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, big enough reason, ain’t it? SRK at the press conference to unveil the trailer claims that the chemistry between him and Kajol is three times more than Dilwale Dulhainya Le Jayenge!!
- Its different from what Karan Johar has done ever before. MNIK is darker, deals with a Neurological disorder (autism) and also the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks.
- SRK’s performance. The response so far has been mixed, it will be interesting to how Khan has pulled it off. It could go either way – brilliant or very inconsistent.
- Shahrukh and Kajol have a 100% success ratio, every film they have come together for, has worked at the box office.
- Karan Johar too, as a director, has a 100% success ratio. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum were huge blockbusters. Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna didn’t meet expectations and under-performed at the Indian box office.
- Fox Studios marketed Slumdog Millionaire, which was a strong product in itself, to box office and Oscar gold. Can they achieve similar success with MNIK?
Where My Name Is Khan could go wrong..
- SRK is at his best when, well, he is SRK on screen. In Swades and Chak De India, he was great, but those were normal restrained roles. His character in MNIK is such that, if he doesn’t get it right, it could look pretty weird, if not awful, on screen.
- The “I want to meet the president of US” because it would help him re-unite with his wife Mandira, sounds clichéd – exaggerated.
Reasons not to watch My Name Is Khan
- Just two reasons. One, too many films on 9/11 in the last 6 months or so. One of them was Kurbaan, produced by Karan Johar himself, which didn’t do too well at the box office.
- Two, if you aren’t huge fans of SRK – Kajol – Karan and didn’t like the trailer either, you would be better off waiting for the critics and user reviews, before you go book your tickets.
Overall, the promotions for My Name Is Khan have already begun and SRK has already taken a potshot at Aamir Khan “If we are asked to go to other states to promote the movie, we surely will do it. But if you are asking me if I will vanish, I don’t know. I am still here.” said SRK, referring to the “Disappear” act that Aamir has done to promote 3 Idiots!

You should watch a movie because it is a good movie…and not because the star cast!! Please.. watch this movie only, if you think it is a good movie not because of Shah rukh khan or Kajol or the duo..and whom so ever is saying that Salman’s fans are afraid of SRK’s power… mind it! I am an ardent Salman fan and I hate SRK to the core… SRK can do only romantic roles…the best was in veer-zaara, and I agree…nobody can do it better than him. But, to be honest.. I did not like the trailer either, and surely there have been a couple of movies on 9/11.. same plot.. and same storyline… and same hindu mislim criticism!
So please.. stop this Khan world war here… and stick to the theme and not to support your respective Khans.
@Topic: I would go with, not watching it because there have been Kurbaan on 9/11.. which I did not like very much..and I’m honestly bored with the plot, So I’m toh sticking with not watching it but I urge you to watch it..if you loved the trailer and according to me the above given reason are enough to suggest you about it!!

Shahrukh has been going very bad these times. The films like Om Shanti Om , Billu barber didnt do well at the box office. Rab ne bana de jodi was quit good but was undigestible. In comparison to Aamir he is taken a back. I being SRK fan is upset abt him but really like the films done by Aamir. Aamir is great. MNIK if works on the box office , it will be just because of Kajol coming on the silver screen for a long time.
I m very sure that MINK is a Huge hit in INDIA or OVERSEAS b’coz it had SRK and KAJOL.and history says that when they come together box office & audfience rocks.so this time it will be possible again so wait for the release of this movie.
Just back from the Mumbai Fox office after watching portions of the final edit of My Name is Khan. Fox guys were really keen whether the $16 million they spent in buying the rights are justified? The answer is a resounding yes. This film is gonna blow away mainstream Hollywood if properly marketed. Shah Rukh Khan is in the role of his lifetime and as Rizwan Khan, he is in his best performance ever. Kajol is at her usual best and the chemistry between the leading pair is something to die for. The climax is the crux of the movie, and the 2nd half is so compelling that people will just stand up and give a standing ovation to the maker, Karan Johar. Shibani Bathija needs to be credited for such an awesome screenplay, and Ravi Chandran’s cinematography gives the film an international look. The theme is tailor made for North America, and as I already mentioned, if marketed properly, this one has potential to gross $100 million in North America alone. Having said that, being primarily a love story, it has all the right items to hit the Indian box office. Due to the lead pair coming back after 10 years, the hype in India is inexplicable.
Overall, I would give it a 8.5/10 rating, and advise everyone to celebrate Valentine’s with KHAN

i saw the screening of my name is khan its a great movie with strong message about humanity , pure love , terrific performance by sharukh like DEVDAS, CHAKDE, SWADESH I think he will cross all bar here and reach a next level of acting kajol is also acting wonderfully both are too cute in movie lots of emotional love moments die for , the movie will give no chance to be bored it will take you to next level dram too good performance here sharukg wil get another award break record of dilip kumar here i think so , the 2half of movie is turning point you can not sit in the chair we all stand and give a clapping to this movie for great achievement , kajol also good but sharukh extraordinary performance here altogether nobody can imagine he will deserve here national award please watch biggest blockbuster of 2010 might it will cross all the record
First of all, who is youssef and so..giving the review before 1 month of movie release, I m sure you guys are srk fans and started imagine the movie.. one question?? what karan johar famous for::: Romantic,Relationship..bollywood music and dance…and MIK is about….???none of these………… he made movie out his track..So..I dont think MIK will do good..To become blockbustor need full masti..dance..great music..and MIK … Karan Johar should not made this movie…..what happen to suraj barjatya when he made Main prem ki deewani hoo…. I think after this movie karan johar will not try to make movie based on terorism.. he will return his own dance masti..good music..romance..and he is master in this type..

Salman got no acting skill so far, his life nearly ends with final choice of his life katrina. salma always after aamir success and copycat…hahaha just like shahruk…veer is disaster..mnik would be even more disaster… aamir…jai ho !
as Manoj Kumar right about Shahrukh Khan, Bollywood’s Pakistan agenda?
Shahrukh Khan may not be apologizing for his support for Pakistan, even though he had apologized willingly earlier for some trivial Islam’s Prophet Muhammad reference in Billu Barber. The actor may be locking himself into a corner to be exposed as what the legendary Indian star Manoj Kumar, once nicknamed ‘Bharat’ himself, had implied Khan was, ‘communal’ , albeit in a clever way.
Manoj Kumar who had given Dilip Kumar aka Yusuf Khan a break as character actor in his 1981 patriotic blockbuster Kranti (starring Manoj Kumar opposite Hema Malini, and directed and produced by Manoj Kumar as well) after the latter had been rejected in box office flops through the 1970s, had noted the above, calling Shahrukh and Farah Khan ‘fundamentalists’ when Shahrukh Khan mocked Manoj Kumar in comparision to Dilip Kumar after his home production a few years back and made series of comments that the legendary ‘Upkaar’ and ‘Kranti’ star found in affront. Seeing the situation then turning against him, Khan apologized to Manoj Kumar, though it is not certain whether Kumar ever changed his judgement on Shahrukh Khan.
That Shah Rukh Khan is clever or manipulative is not in doubt. If he weren’t so, he wouldn’t be where he is , and making a movie titled ‘My Name is Khan’ all the while claiming to be ‘above’ politics. The question is not whether he is not clever. The question is does his cleverness have a ‘communal’ agenda and is somehow using India’s film industry to extend Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s larger strategic cause, in which case he won’t be just communal but operating against the long term national interest of India possibly. That through Indian cinema itself he is propogandizing Indians to believe Pakistan is ‘great’ and ‘wonderful’, even as Ajmal Qasab is still enjoying meals at the expense of Indian taxpayers. That that maybe the reason why he’s making movie about 9/11 revisionism instead of 26/11 or that years ago, did not do LOC Kargil for JP Dutta.
MNIK supposedly has Khan playing a special Khan taking swipes at America in a sympathetic manner, all being presented under the platform of ‘Indian’ cinema.
Problem for Khan and his supporters be they wherever, is that by now a large chunk of India’s middle class has been to the USA, and don’t agree with bollywood’s one sided view of America, a country which not only has good ties with India, but unlike Pakistan, has a minority, ‘Barack Obama’ in the white house. That while its currently the regional Shiv Sena raising the point violently, Indians across vast spectra have no love lost for Pakistan or its symbols.
Khan often touts his family’s connection to Pakistan as if it’s some achievement (Pakistan has fought 4 wars against India, and surrendered to India in 1971). Nonetheless if Khan doesn’t have the agenda he’s accused of, then instead of hiding behind secularism stance currently prevalent in India, he should use his ‘influence’ with the Pakistanis to try to get *them* to be secular and ask why they haven’t elected a minority like Obama, be it a Christian, Hindu or a Jewish individual in Pakistan.
After all according to him, the Hindu-majority India and the muslim-majority Pakistan are the same right?
But since he hasn’t and since he won’t do that, we don’t have to give a crap either whether his name is Khan or his name is Kasab or his name is Bin Laden.
Guys, I saw this movie friday night show.. the viewers attendence was about 40%
now here is my review:
The movie has many pitfalls, some are listed below:
1) Sharukh is shown suffering from disease, but his austin like acts are looking poorly imitative.. interistingly he is shown participating in functions, gives speech, does the routine works,etc .. very unconvincing, hard to beleive.
2) Their son getting killed – is the worst ever picturisations.. its very violent to see the kids killing another in a soccer (football) playground.. and for no significant or strong reason .. ( director tries to convince, its because he is muslim, but its very poorly themed and picturised .. very bad really)
3) He gives statements in Hindi to Americans present in a social gathering and they were singing and dancing afterwords (as if they have understood the ‘Hndi’ very well) .. its very unconvincing..
4) Kajol is shown with terrorist alignments… which is very bad, since childrens and woments are least involved in terrorist activities… it was really not required to be shown in movie.
5) Lastly, the sentence “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist ” is repeated too many times.. you would struck with feeling, if the muslims are eally terrorists … another directorial failure.. it seems like director is trying to defend and protect this Khan only (you will loose interest as the message is not conveyed properly for all muslims)..
This is very unfortunate to say that this highly hyped movie fails to deliver at every aspect.. the story seems to be revolving around 9/11 only, acting wise the stars have nothing to do but to narrate the story..
The emothional quotient is temporary as the story treatment is poor and leaves no impact due to hard to beleive sequences/picturizations.
This movie might only be liked by sharukh fans only, and others should skip this flic or may see it in fast forward mode from local dvd shop ..
