Some reasons to watch out for My Name Is Khan
- Stars Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, big enough reason, ain’t it? SRK at the press conference to unveil the trailer claims that the chemistry between him and Kajol is three times more than Dilwale Dulhainya Le Jayenge!!
- Its different from what Karan Johar has done ever before. MNIK is darker, deals with a Neurological disorder (autism) and also the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks.
- SRK’s performance. The response so far has been mixed, it will be interesting to how Khan has pulled it off. It could go either way – brilliant or very inconsistent.
- Shahrukh and Kajol have a 100% success ratio, every film they have come together for, has worked at the box office.
- Karan Johar too, as a director, has a 100% success ratio. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum were huge blockbusters. Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna didn’t meet expectations and under-performed at the Indian box office.
- Fox Studios marketed Slumdog Millionaire, which was a strong product in itself, to box office and Oscar gold. Can they achieve similar success with MNIK?
Where My Name Is Khan could go wrong..
- SRK is at his best when, well, he is SRK on screen. In Swades and Chak De India, he was great, but those were normal restrained roles. His character in MNIK is such that, if he doesn’t get it right, it could look pretty weird, if not awful, on screen.
- The “I want to meet the president of US” because it would help him re-unite with his wife Mandira, sounds clichéd – exaggerated.
Reasons not to watch My Name Is Khan
- Just two reasons. One, too many films on 9/11 in the last 6 months or so. One of them was Kurbaan, produced by Karan Johar himself, which didn’t do too well at the box office.
- Two, if you aren’t huge fans of SRK – Kajol – Karan and didn’t like the trailer either, you would be better off waiting for the critics and user reviews, before you go book your tickets.
Overall, the promotions for My Name Is Khan have already begun and SRK has already taken a potshot at Aamir Khan “If we are asked to go to other states to promote the movie, we surely will do it. But if you are asking me if I will vanish, I don’t know. I am still here.” said SRK, referring to the “Disappear” act that Aamir has done to promote 3 Idiots!

Only the name of srk can make a movie superhit. This is star power. Like oso and rbne were not as good. But the movies were blockbuster. Srk is the King. So Mnik is going to break all records. People are waiting for this movie for a long time. Keep ruling king khan.

Shahrukh has a screentime of nearly 50-60 minutes in 135 min movie & he is reported to have the same sceentime in Dulha Mil gaya. if this is a cameo, then we have to redifine the word cameo for you. it’s just after billu flopped guys like u started stating srk’s role as a cameo. well, then aksahy in blue & salman in mamk was also doing cameo, isn’t it.
nauman salman is a super star since 20yrs, and don,t forget that akki came in lime light in 2007, so only 2 yrs, there is a big difference between 20yrs and 2 yrs, salman is far ahead of akshay kumar and have more fan following then akshay kumar, salman is a big star and akshay is not, ok u know the truth……………

I agree with Allen, akash, and Naveed. When i saw the trailer of MNIK, i start laughing by seeing Haklu Khan’s acting in that. It was as usual artificial. Haklu khan must see aamir’s movies to get some tips on acting. I know MNIK is going to flop miserably. Haklu is not even 1% of aamir and as far as salman is concerned, salman bhai u r the best. Haklu is artificial and salman and aamir r quite natural. Waiting for VEER and 3 idiots.

BAD NEWS FOR SRK FAN:
On surface level this battle seem to be one sided, My Name Is Khan is most awaited movie where Shahrukh khan will come in lead role after gap of more than one year (there was Billu in between as supporting role). But Audience and specially Shahrukh’s millions of fans are dying to see him on silver celluloid since long. Evergreen pair Shahrukh – kajol will be back after 9 Years (last seen in K3G in 2001). Also Karan Johar is riding high after 100% success record as Producer as well as director in as many as 6 movies. Bumper opening for this movie is always on cards.
On other Hand Teen Patti is International project with Amitabh and Ben Kingsley in Lead roles. Director Leena’s second outing after Dud “Shabd” is testimony for her career. There are few lucky ones who has seen the promo at BigB blog which was uploaded for few hours and then removed from blog after some objections raised by producer ‘Hinduja Brothers”. Well i am one among those lucky guys. Promo was eye candy and gave you international feel, give you feel of another Ankhein(2001) type of thriller which was very much critically acclaimed and good commercial success. On Flip side Teen patti first look lacks Desi Punch and enough appetite to attract Desi audience. Bumper opening for movie is out of equation, Clash with My Name is khan on 12th feb, 2010 will cut enough meat in first week.
ha ha ha….. all the back biter and the hater of srk are very very afraid with the shah rukh khan’s next megha blockbuster…so they are trying to dazzle the people …ha ha ha…but what they thought is not what going to happen….the day when movie released…and blast the box office record…they all of them will have lack of tears to sry….ha ha ha

Rix: wrong… bigb reached the age of 67 and he’s still shining in bollywood.. well when they get old.. they select the roles which suits their age.. right..a family man.. a middle aged guy who falls for a v. young woman.. a father’s problem with his kids like Bibgb’s role in Baghban.. a progeria kid who looks old in the age of 70 or 80 (and Mr Bachan was perfect for this role)
Shahrukh will survive another 30 years in bollywood.. Aamir too.. but I’m not sure if Akshay or Salman will last this way.. maybe.. Salman maybe but Akshay.. I don’t know
One more thing to mention: if the American audience was like the indian audience.. and “always” tried to degrade their superstars like Anthony Hopkins, Robert Dinero.. Mickelle Doglas, Jack Necklson Alpachino who’s over 70 now.. do u think that those young actors of nowadays could’ve created any magic in hollywood?! I never read in any website that some americans trying to show the weakness points in their superstars..this happens only with the indian audience.. shame on you all!
