Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming gangster drama film ‘Kabali’ will hit theatres on July 1st 2016, which falls in the Pre-Eid period.
The decision to release the film before Eid was taken to avoid any clash against Salman Khan’s keenly-awaited film Sultan, which releases in theatres on July 6.
“The film was earlier slated to release in June. It has been now pushed to July 1. The makers had also planned to release on July 7 but have advanced the release to avoid a clash with Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’” a source confirmed.
Directed by Pa. Ranjith, ‘Kabali’ is the story of the rise of a gangster from rags-to-riches. The film also stars Radhika Apte, Dinesh, Kalaiarasan, Dhansikaa and Ritwika.

Well in the north kabali anyways wldnt b xpctd to b a major grosser …similarly sultan wldnt b in d south….and now wd dese megastars mvie releases it wld eat up dr collections in dr respective dominating zones…..in d south people wld prefer kabali and in d north frst choice wld b sultan …though dr wl always b xceptions …will b interesting to see wat nos are put up by dem

The comparision is how – just on their name – movies run…….Rajni’s movies are not pathbreaking or masterpieces……..it just works on his name……..they are blockbusters before it releases……..similarly Salman’s movie since last 6-7 years just works on his name……the comparision ends there…..It is similar to the era of Amitabh when movies just ran on his name….no matter how good or average they were.

@JC My God can’t believe there exists a Salman Fan who’s polite and sensible.I just replied to certain comments which I had read in the previous Kabali article and couldn’t reply back then.Yes,if you compare Salman’s current standing in Bollywood with Rajini Sir then I accept there’s a bit of similarity but career wise it is impossible for Salman or any other Bollywood/Kollywood actor to match the consistency of Rajini Sir.They need to achieve a lot in order to be even compared to him.

Tamil films don’t create that much hype and excitement among Hindi audiences barring few exceptions, so this move hardly matters.
But still I won’t term it as “Averting” a clash, because if content of “Kabali” clicks and if it finds appreciation among Hindi belt audiences, then Sultana will be in danger.
Last month we saw, how Jungle Book was preponned by a week to “Avert” clash with SRK’s FAN. But post it’s release, it found such an appreciation that it ended up eating up huge chunk of FAN’s business.

I have observed especially this year 2016 many movies have changed their release date… Jaggu jasoos, Raees, Kaabila.
Sometimes it works especially considering the trade aspect..sometimes again it turns out to be a bad decision…
I really never saw Sultan and Kaabila being treath between themselves. Both are completely different genre and both.are targeted for mostly a particular audience North n South.
If really it has to do with Sultan hindering some chunk of Kabila share @box office revenue then must say Salman is now arguably the Icon in the making… Not actually due to his acting skills but his ability to shatter records consistently and his his loyal fan bases keeps on increasing.
