About a year ago, Excel Entertainment had announced ‘Eid 2015’ as the release date of Rahul Dholakia’s ‘Raees’, a date that was already booked by Kabir Khan for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
The director wasn’t pleased, but said that he would stick to his release date. Kabir had said ”Our film (Bajrangi Bhaijaan) was announced long back and if Shah Rukh Khan’s film is also releasing on Eid 2015, it makes no difference. Our project will definitely release on Eid 2015. Anybody else who wants to release their film on that day, is welcome.”
The clash was averted, as Shah Rukh Khan first completed ‘Fan’ before moving on to shoot ‘Raees’.
A year later, history has repeated itself. However, this time around, it was Excel Entertainment and SRK who first blocked ‘Eid 2016’ as the release date for ‘Raees’.
Two months after their announcement, Yash Raj Films has released a ‘date announcement video’ confirmed that Salman Khan will once again have a Eid release during 2016.
Which actor or banner will back out? Who will eventually get the lucrative Eid 2016 weekend? Remember, the only year that Salman didn’t have a film ready for Eid, it was Shahrukh who released his film and delivered the biggest grosser of all time (Chennai Express in 2013).
Which film would you want to watch during Eid next year – Ali Abbas Zafar’s Sultan, where Salman will be seen playing a wrestler or Rahul Dholakia’s Raees, a film where Shahrukh Khan plays a Gujrati don.

Of course,Raees…SRK would give his best for this movie…Srk will get next Eid release..And Sultan wouldn’t complete quickly..I think yrf planing to release during bakri eid..

Excel entertainment always makes better films than YRF. They made Dil Chahta hai when NRI loves stories were trending. They made Zindagi Na milegi dobara when typical action films were working. So inspite of all hate SRK fans have for Aamir, I’d still choose Raees.

It’s really good to see Salman as a wrestler as he has a good physique. But Sultan’s director is the director of last year’s bad film Gunday. So I am not sure about its content.

Let’s b honest with ourselves. We r talking about Hindi cinemas current 2out of 3 Megastars. We also know that no matter what both movies will b released on a holiday period. B it eid Xmas republic day,it’s for sure d industry will reserve 3 lucrative holiday period for d 2 megastars. B it eid or Xmas both of them will have a lucrative festive period. They won’t CLASH. So I don’t mind watching any of their movies on eid. As long as they will both b released 2016 n both sets of fans will watch their movies that period. Both r matured n senior artists so they will find a way out. I think it’s time both of them shd not worry about d festive period. Let both movies b released on separate festive periods. And let both movies VERDICT B decided by d audiences. No matter wat both shall b BIG TIME GROSSERS B IT SRK OR SALMAN.

If Raees is completed, it will definitely release during EID. YRF and SRK share great friendship. Producers make these early calls just to hype up the movie among the fans and then back away.
