Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees was outstanding for the second consecutive day at the box office, as the film – as per early estimates, has shown growth of around 20-25% on Thursday to take its 2-day total to around the 47 crore mark.
The film continued to outperform Kaabil almost all across the country, with Raees now almost becoming a craze in muslim dominated areas and single screens. It’s a typical masala film, where the lead star (in this case, a megastar) plays a larger-than-life role. The fact that SRK hasn’t played a role like this in a very long time, seems to be really helping the film at mass centres – Don 2 was in the same space, but was on the classier side and targeted at the multiplex audience. Hence, the impact wasn’t as much as Raees.
The masses are celebrating Shah Rukh Khan after a very long time, reports are coming in that the atmosphere at theatres is almost festive-like. It’s a genre that he hasn’t fully explored in his career, preferring overseas-shot classier films instead. If Raees continues to perform, it’ll probably change his mind and do films that also appeal to the ‘forgotten’ section of the audience (the industry doesn’t do enough films for them anymore).
The advance booking for tomorrow (Friday) is good, with tickets worth 2-3 crore sold in advance, so the film should continue its good run. A total of 15 crore plus on Friday would be extraordinary, while anything below 14-15 crore would be a normal drop for a working day. Anything below 13 crore will be a cause for concern.
Raees is ruling the box office and now has a significant lead over Kaabil. The next few days will give us a clearer picture on whether Raees can continue to hold on to the lead, or the gap narrows down. A 150 crore plus total is SRK need to ensure that Raees is a big success.

To all “srkians” fuming across with rage with kaabil having seemingly crossed only 7 something crore, I have to ask you to verify your facts first. BOI is a website which consistently posts it’s “estimates” not the actual figures way early into the day. They then almost never correct upon their “estimates” and leave it there and then.
Kaabil made most of its earnings from the evening and night shows and mid way between the two, boi had posted it’s article about kaabil’s collection! How is that possible!?
And think about it logically, if k3 had manipulations north of 50 crore then filmkraft would’ve paid comparitively more taxes! Why would any sane man do such a ludicrous thing!??
Please use some brains and remove trust on websites who claim to be authentic with no actual proof to verify their sources. They have been underreporting all movies since time immemorial. Dangal is also 20-30 crore lesser in their lifetime totals as they didn’t take into account the regional collections!?
So relax and enjoy the success of both movies at their respective levels instead of hating upon the other one.
Day 2 for both the films is good and with their combined collections, they are challenging highest records for each day
PS: It’s also kinda stupid of people to quote collections of one website onto another. Indicine is a reputable site and if they are posting some figures, they of course would’ve verified it from all their sources. It’s like going to a 5 star hotel and saying to the chefs that thele ka khaana is tastier. If you feel that then don’t come to this hotel and stick to thela. Simple.

I guess you totally forgot about it or wanted to glorify SRK fans who sadly could not even write reviews for their idol.
In US / Canada it also took a huge start for a midweek release. The opening day on a non Friday release is only behind Sultan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. It also managed to beat Dangal here. The film was released by Zee Studios in the big Overseas markets of US / Canada and United Kingdom. Raees is a massy movie after long time. The real test will be from Monday and will decide where movie will end up. I guess better opening of Raees compare to Kaabil will give boost for collections in coming day but Kaabil is amazing movie and better wom may drive collections for it. I sensed both the movies may do well and end up as success for both camps. My prediction for both as follows:
Raees – 130-140 crs
Kaabil – 85-100 crs
Verdict wise, Kaabil will have advantage due to low budget.
I liked SRK as Raees and I wished it had released solo on a better date. If Sultan was not on Eid 2016 I would have love to watch Raees. Planning to watch second time on coming weekend.
Kaabil is one of the best performance of Hrithik Roshan. He totally nailed it. I guess this time both Raees and Kaabil will do well and may managed to get Hit status.

What is this @sky??? Don’t you know Sultan collected 37cr on its 4th day (Saturday) & 32cr on its 3rd day (Friday). Which holiday advantage Sultan got in those days??? Or you belong to those fanbases who think Eid holidays were there for 3-4 weeks???
Frankly speaking these are average collections from a star whom indicine repeatedly says is one of the top 2 crowd puller conveniently ignoring Aamir everytime. This is strictly looking at a lifetime of 150. Srk has no films in top 5 anymore ! With Tubelight getting released this year, I think he will be still pushed further down
The fact is Kaabil lost the clash but then one must not forget BM vs Dilwale battle. Srks films drop after weekends and then average collections drop to 2-3 crores a day ! Sustainability is not at all his strong Area. He has still some crazy fans who come out on first 3 days and post that it’s all slippery slope. His ability to get neutral audience out like Aamir is zero. Dangal crossed 150 crores in 5 days while I bet Raees lifetime will struggle crossing that number. Yet it is funny according to Indicine srk is in top 2 as they repeatedly claim. Tomorrow will be less than 18 crores Sat Sun each can bring 20 each but from Monday it is all below 10

I see both the movies but in terms of quality n performance kaabil is way a head on lead much better n awesome movie. Raees is just an average movie just last 30 min of raees are Gud which saves little bit otherwise raees is another fan for shahrukh his look Is awesome but acting are just average IN last 30 mins he is Gud n in kaabil hrithik nailed it he beat him With way a margin IN Acting.. Last words kaabil is much better movie then raees..
As far as youtube public views are concerned, Kaabil is leading big time!!!!

Raees collections are also highest ever collections on republic day for a movie beating Salman Khan’s Jai Ho
dangal’ collection on Christmas (3rd day) with 4200 screens = 42cr
therefore
raees should be on republic day(2nd) with 3000 screens = 30cr
but
only 26-27cr republic day
it means raees failed to dangal’s record.
