Three of the biggest box office openers this year – Ra One, Ready and Bodyguard – are all masala flicks catering to a huge audience both in India and overseas. While Ready and Bodyguard cost less and were far less promoted, the opening numbers are comparable with Shahrukh Khan’s ambitious Ra One.
Day 1: Bodyguard released during EID and Ra One for Diwali, both holidays but the SRK starrer was affected by Diwali celebrations as collections witnessed a sharp dip for the afternoon and evening shows. Bodyguard of course, released on less number of prints went on to do 21 crores of business on Day 1 in India. Ready was a non-festive release and still did well. Winner – Bodyguard
Day 2: Belongs to SRK’s Ra One. The film had a historic Thursday amassing collections in excess of 24 crores – the biggest single day collections in the history of the Hindi film industry. Comparatively, Bodyguard did pretty well too. Ready was much lower. Winner – Ra One
Day 3: While collections of dubbed regional language versions plunged, Ra One in Hindi (especially the 3D version) was rock solid considering that it was a working day in most parts of the country. Bodyguard too was steady, witnessing approximately the same percentage of drop on the third day of its release. Ready picked up considerably as it was a Sunday. Winner – Ra One

As is pretty evident from the table above, Ra One is ahead by more than 15% compared to the second best – Bodyguard. If combined with overseas business, Ra One is way ahead of all Hindi releases so far this year.
Irrespective of what happens from here on, SRK has proved once again, that he belongs right up there somewhere in the Top 3. Don 2 is likely to be less promoted and it should be interesting to see how it matches up to these 3 money-spinners.

@wiza.poka- people are going to see ra.one even with hiked prices of tickets but had bodyguard’s ticket price been increased, it would not have able to earn what it earned.

See guys as king already said, no body stopped Salman to promote the film, but Salman fans should accept this thing that salman can’t give his own movies like Srk does, he simply know 2 copy the south movies. I am astonished how his movies still doing the business, @ sallu fans plz advice sallu 2 make some thing his own like Srk is doing, leave copying telugu nd tamil movies (Wanted, Ready Bodyguard) nd so many. Now v r fed up with those remake movies…!
@wiz.poka- that is the spirit, like salman i have no problem with it but don’t be blind, there are other actors who can beat salman at the box office.

Dabbang should not have got National Award.
Along with collections at box office budget of the film should be written.

Ra.One has registered 10-20% drop more or less everywhere on Saturday from Friday as per early circuits reports are coming. Literally no jump is shown anywhere, which is surprising as Saturday tends to show jump from Friday generally. As already stated that after bumper opening it will be very difficult for Ra.One to sustain same or perform better.

@teja-i think you haven’t seen amitabh’s and shahrukh’s don,they are quite different. For your kind information i tell you that i have seen south indian wanted and salman’s wanted and it is carbon copy of south film,similarly ready and bodyguard are also copies of south.

Ra 1 three days collections around the world are 103 crore. Which is amazing. Love u srk. Srk is the proud of bollywood. People knows bollywood bcz of srk around the world. A true global superstar.
