Ra One breaks records, makes history

These are the ‘Official Figures’ that we received from Red Chillies Entertainment (Shahrukh Khan’s production house). We received this article yesterday and it only includes the first and second day collections. The figures also include collections from the dubbed versions (Tamil, Telugu).

While the world has been anticipating the release of SRK’s Ra.One & been dying to know
the shape of its fate, there are mixed views about how the movie has actually faired.

Released worldwide on 26th October 2011, on the auspicious day of Diwali, we
barely expected unbeatable numbers due to the generic festive mood.

However, Shahrukh Khan’s Ra One did surprise the people when the official numbers
came out. So, the film grossed Rs. 26.5 crores with a net of Rs. 18.5 crores on
Wednesday 26th October making it the highest ever Diwali day collection in the history
of Indian cinema especially in the last 14 years.

The second day collections on Thursday 27th October were even more impressive with
the film raking in Rs. 36 crores gross with a net of Rs. 25.10 crores making it the
highest collection ever for a single day for an Indian film.

What is to be seen is whether this is just another number game or this movie has
managed to raise the bar for Indian Cinema with its vfx, marketing and a new story to tell.
For now, looks like the crab mentality of Indian cinema is about to breakfree.
