These are the ‘Official Figures’ that we received from Red Chillies Entertainment (Shahrukh Khan’s production house). We received this article yesterday and it only includes the first and second day collections. The figures also include collections from the dubbed versions (Tamil, Telugu).
While the world has been anticipating the release of SRK’s Ra.One & been dying to know
the shape of its fate, there are mixed views about how the movie has actually faired.Released worldwide on 26th October 2011, on the auspicious day of Diwali, we
barely expected unbeatable numbers due to the generic festive mood.However, Shahrukh Khan’s Ra One did surprise the people when the official numbers
came out. So, the film grossed Rs. 26.5 crores with a net of Rs. 18.5 crores on
Wednesday 26th October making it the highest ever Diwali day collection in the history
of Indian cinema especially in the last 14 years.The second day collections on Thursday 27th October were even more impressive with
the film raking in Rs. 36 crores gross with a net of Rs. 25.10 crores making it the
highest collection ever for a single day for an Indian film.What is to be seen is whether this is just another number game or this movie has
managed to raise the bar for Indian Cinema with its vfx, marketing and a new story to tell.
For now, looks like the crab mentality of Indian cinema is about to breakfree.

Ra one is not a good film as much as we expected. The problem with the script and direction. The film doesnt have a soul. Ovbiously the acters such khan did well . Arjun rampals role was very shorter than we expected. This film could’ve been better if it had a good script and good director like shankar(robot2010) this kind of promotion doesnt need for this film as it is a average film

Record 53 Crore Nett For Ra.One (Hindi) In Three Days

The third day of Ra.One (Hindi) has come in lower than estimated earlier at 15.50 crore nett. This makes it a three day total of 53 crore nett. It is a record for first three days but by a very small margin.
The Tamil and Telugu versions have collected around 4 crore nett over three days which gives it a 57 crore nett all languages total.
The regional versions have performed better than any Hindi film before in just three days but there was big drop on third day and for the number of prints in play for regional version its an average performance.
The top first three day nett grossers of Hindi cinema are as follows.
1. Ra.One (Hindi) – 53 crore approx
2. Bodyguard – 52.60 crore
3. Dabangg – 48.82 crore
4. Ready – 42.23 crore
5. Three Idiots – 37.98 crore
6. Tees Maar Khan – 36.59 crore
7. Golmaal 3 – 34.81 crore
8. Raajneeti – 33.62 crore
9. Housefull – 30.97 crore

The highly anticipated Diwali release triumphed at the box office with an incredible weekend gross collection of Rs. 137.25 crore (Net Collection of Rs. 96 crore) in India and Rs. 32.75 crore overseas. Since its release, Ra.One has been creating history by shattering regional, national and international box office record after record with the biggest Diwali day opening followed by the biggest single day collections for an Indian film and now the biggest ever weekend release for both India and overseas box office.
Ra.One opened across more than 4,000 plus screens worldwide (3,100 plus screens in India and 904 prints internationally, including 3D, Tamil and Telugu) and is the biggest Hindi grosser in south markets too.

Ra.One had a huge opening of $6 million overseas (INR 30 crore). The three day opening is the fourth biggest ever after My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Om Shanti Om. In Overseas Shahrukh Khan has the top four openings out of the top five with Three idiots in fifth place. The figures from major markets are as follows. The film had a 600 print release in Overseas which is biggest ever.
United Kingdom -£910,000
North America – $1,650,000
UAE – $1,090,000
Australia – $340,000
Pakistan – $250,000
The Far East has also done phenomenally well as a circuit like Singapore beat the Three Idiots business in just five days and Three idiots was second biggest Hindi grosser ever in the market.
Ra.One may emerge a blockbuster in Overseas but has mixed word of mouth so it remains to be seen what numbers it can put up but the daily breakdowns in some markets suggest a drop.
The business it is doing is mainly due to the SRK craze in overseas as these type of films are not Overseas friendly due to many special effects heavy films from Hollywood with bigger budgets. The film is unlikely to hit 100 cr overseas business but may do 75 crore which is still extraordinary.
Tell Me Oh Khuda And Damadamm Are Disasters

Tell Me Oh Khuda and Damadamm could not find an audience due to the Ra.One. Both films were releases a day after Ra.One and opened to disastrous houses and did not pick up.
Both the films had many shows cancelled all over the country due to lack of audience. Tell Me Oh Khuda has grossed around 75 lakhs nett over the first four days while Damadamm grossed around 50 lakhs nett.
Tell Me Oh Khuda and Damadamm made a huge mistake of releasing with Ra.One and trying to benefit on Diwali period. You can only benefit if you can some screen space, a show here and there at with poor timings like late night or early morning is no help.
Both films would have been much better off if they came a week later.
