Now this has not only surprised us, but the Day 1 collections of Ra One are pretty shocking. Yes, it was Diwali and the afternoon – evening shows were affected, but..
- Ra One released on close to 3500 prints whereas Bodyguard was released on less than 2000 (on Wednesday)
- The ticket prices at multiplexes were about 10% more expensive than Bodyguard (the prices of tickets were increased just like 3 Idiots)
- With 100% collections all over India, the total capacity of Ra One was around 34 – 35 crores. Which also means, at about 14.5 crores, the collections were about 35 – 40% for Day 1.
- Bodyguard released at 1PM on Wednesday and didn’t have the widest of releases. Still, managed to set a record of 21 crores.
At worst, due to all the hype and craze, we expected Ra One to easily cross 20 crores.
On a more positive note, Day 2 collections (even for noon shows) had better occupancy and we expect around 18 – 20 crores by the end of the day.
Please do not misunderstand this comparison, we are only comparing Bodyguard to Ra One because the former currently holds the Day 1 record. This is not a SRK vs Salman battle.

i dont know where and on what srk spent 150crores on this movie. it had nothing new except the two fighting scenes with special effects. in hollywood superhero movie they come to the point straightaway but in raone ist half is total crap with some crap dancing songs. story and srk’s acting both were awful. even i was expecting it to break opening day record but offcourse srk cant have on screen crisma

ra 1 second day is looking humungous. I m waiting for 2nd day collections. Till now it has been sure that it will cross 21 crore at least. Its a great movie to watch n i loved it. I m going to watch it again on sunday. but for srk haters its definitely not good.

well salman released bodyguard on eid n srk’s ra one is released on diwali…n we all knw tht population celebrating diwali is much larger thn those celebrating eid…
thts why collection for ra one on the day of diwali is much less thn bodyguard on the day of eid cos ppl generaly prefer to celebrate any festival with family members n not by watchin a movie….(in most cases)…
so now the real challenge for ra one starts when diwali is over n people start goin out on weekend….

me and aashkaran had a bet on the first day total which he has lost. Now he was supposed to call salman his daddy and He ran away. I told everyone 2 weeks ago that the first day total would not be more than 18 crs.
