Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has taken a record-breaking opening at the box office. The collections, pan-India, are extraordinary. Exhibitors have been reporting that a majority of the audience for the early morning shows were the youth.
Most single-screens and multiplexes were running to packed houses. Some multiplexes that usually schedule their first show at 10AM, have started screening PRDP as early as 8 in the morning and even these shows were running to 70-80% occupancy, which is extraordinary.
City wise Box Office Opening of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
- Mumbai city: Bumper opening, packed houses. Early morning shows 65% plus occupancy, even with high number of shows at multiplexes. 10AM onwards it has picked up further.
- New Delhi: Advance booking was good here and the opening is 2 times better than the second best film of 2015. Way ahead of Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
- Pune: Extraordinary start, again the best of 2015.
- Bangalore and Kolkata: Solid start, lower than other major cities.. but for morning shows, outstanding.
- Hyderabad: Very good start for the Hindi version, dubbed version poor.
- Chennai: Was affected by the release of regional films, but a good start. Dubbed version hasn’t opened well.
Overall, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has taken the best opening of 2015. The mega star power of Salman Khan has proved yet again that he is the numero uno star in the country. It’s his 9th straight bumper opening – which started with Dabangg in 2010 and has shown no signs of slowing down.
PRDP is certain to record a 40 crore plus opening day. The reports from early morning shows are good, the film has something in it for everyone. The youth will enjoy the first half, the family audience will love the second.

Occupancy is 70-80% throughout the day in Metros . Considering the screen count, 40cr+ looks realistic now. Anything below this will be a disappointment .

Some negative critics are trying their level best to effect the boxoffice performance but they should know that when actions are taken with a clean intent, you are bound to reap the benefits.

Almost all the shows for today are full or filling fast (plenty are available for weekend though), I think it might just become the biggest opener.
Too much negativity by srk fans on twitter.. almost every negative tweet bout the movie I read had a profile name related to srk!! So much hatred for such a sweet film!! And the worst part is they r mentioning krk tweets!! I mean krk??!! I thght srk fans are more frm the smarter class!! N they r behaving actually like krk who without even watching the movie is spreading negativity!! I’ve watched the movie and is exactly how @indicine summed up here!! Watch it to believe it!!

happy new year got huge first day collection because it had depika to add five cr.prdp runs solely on salman khan. Besides to compare the first day of hny with pk or prdp is not right because hny was promoted as a masala film. My review.plus:prdp is great. Grand. Gorgeous. Great visuals,camera work. Songs are great in the world of the the film, which i knew. Good storyline. Great performance of salman khan,anupam kher at times & nil nitin…minus:the length is a bit more. I got hungry at the end. Overacting of sorry to say sonam kapoor. it would be foolish to call it a bad film..we have no other option but to say it is a good film.yes the length brings one or two dull moments. But paisa wasool if you have paid great money. If you bought a cheap ticket,you want the film to end sooner than later.
