Anshai Lal’s Phillauri managed average collections in its first weekend at the box office. The film took a slow start on Friday and showed decent growth over the weekend.
But when the starting level is so low (4 crore), the film had to show better growth. A film like ‘Piku’ jumped by 64% on Saturday and went up further by 30% on Sunday. ‘Pink’ opened at around the same level as ‘Phillauri’, but went 7.65 crore on Saturday and 9.54 crore on Sunday. These were exceptional cases, where the word-of-mouth was outstanding.
‘Phillauri’, on the strength of Diljit Dosanjh’s presence, was driven by the North Indian circuits. Yet, the film only managed 30% on Saturday and 20% on Sunday.
The film is now looking at lifetime business of around 27 crore, which would make it an average grosser.

Movie would have collected more if they had used Diljit more in the trailer..
I’m a regular visitor indicine and love and admire your work . If you fix time posts on even hours or odd hours like 10:00 12:00 or 11:00 1300 it’ll be more convinient for visitors
It was a better movie than Badrinath Ki Dulhania.. deserved to collect more.

weekend is better than NH10. Both as per trade are made on the same budget. so if phillauri holds today it should emerge a semi hit
and indicine is comparing anushka with kangana. In terms of looks, acting, boxoffice numbers kangana is way ahead of anushka, in fact kangana is the only actress who can boast of 150 cr nett film even aksahy kumar and ajay devgan have not managed that
@Indicine… Stop looking down upon small budget off-beat films… Not every film can be ‘Piku’ !!!… If ‘Phillauri’ is doing average, it’s still good !.. You should appreciate the effort by Anushka as a producer on this tricky script… I’m not her admirer but I’m an admirer of those who give a shot to different kind of stories…

kareena – made debut in 2000, gave 1st major hit in 2007 & still managed to b part of bajrangi,ki&ka type success a decade later
katrina-1st success came in 2005, became a big star in 2007 & could well make a strong comeback with tiger, anand srk film to stretch her success for more than 10yrs..!!
Anushka- made blockbuster debut in 2008 & 8.5yrs later is no.2 plus producing films for herself with upcoming films by imtiaz & Hirani . .!!
alia is just 24 & already a big star . could easily stretch successful carrer for 15yrs period
coming to heroes, barring the khans akki & amitabh no hero has managed to hv a successful career beyond 5-15yrs so if v look at that our successul heroines hv done quite well

Jab We Met was not a big hit at all. Films like Guru, Tara Rum Pum and Dhamaal managed to earn more than it. Kareena’s first major hit (after K3G) was 3 Idiots in 2009.
So It’s an average as I predicted.. U can even call it a flop .GREAT
