Limited release, competition from the other film and negative reviews from critics – none of it stopped Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara from opening to packed houses all over.
According to Balaji Motion Pictures, the film has collected Rs 14.2 crores on its opening day, which is excellent considering the fact that it released on around 1600 screens. Also in Rajasthan the film released only after 3PM.
Today is expected to be even better as OUATIMD will have a full-fledged release all over. Many more screens (about 2500-2550) and many more shows at multiplexes due to the great response yesterday, could result in weekend collections exceeding the 50 crore mark.
Growth in business on Saturday and Sunday will be crucial if OUATIMD has to recover its high costs. The total investment is about 80 crores.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara collected around 9 crore nett on day one. The film managed good collections at most places though due to shows being limited it could not collected a big number. The had first day figures in places like CP Berar, CI and Nizam. The film released late in Rajasthan at around 3pm which kept that circuit down a bit.
The test for the film is today as the release is wider and will not get the occupancies of the first day as it is not a holiday. It will be important for the film to add around 30-40% at a minimum on the first day collections.
Due to the film not making much out of the Independence day holiday the extended weekend business will not be as it should be even if the film was to go on and have a strong Fri-Sun period.
Thats Huge collection compairing no. Of screens and less no. Of shows . If OUATIMD released with CE with 50-50% of screens for both movies then what will be happened ? Thats why srk use his cheap trick to posponed OUATIMD by begging to Jeetu Sir .

Saw the movie first day first show. Its boring in parts and imran is a washout. The film belongs to akshay and akshay alone. He is brillant to say the least. He will walk away with the best villain award. His best performance till date
Yesterday I saw the movie [OUATIMD] with my wife. She is ardent SRK fan from DDLJ, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na, Darr days [and I am Salman and Akshay fan]. Even she liked OUATIMD. It was totally masala entertainer. She loved the performance of Akshay.
I hope, you gentlemen do not start abusing the taste of my wife.
My point is some of the critics are critisizing the movie irrationally. Sorry, we also know it is not ‘Forest Gump’.

Best of luck Akshay Kumar and team I have watched the trailers and was quite impressed there is one song which I really like the movie will do well not that interested in how much it collects etc but I think outside of Salman Khan and Amir Khan, Akshay is one of my favourites and a top actor pluc Sonakshi looks fantastic as usual. CE trailers never impress me because they were too samo o samo but since I dont watch SRK movies wont make a difference to me one way or the other.
postponing the movie was the biggest blunder by balaji.. jeetu ji fell for dirty politics by srk.. first he begged to jeetu ji to postpone the movie.. n when jeetu ji obliged, srk played his dirty game again by postponing CE by one day so that he can have 15th august too.. really man, srk can stoop to any level to play his dirty game n save his sinking career.. if srk is king or no.1 in anything that is dirty politics.. first it was ajay now akshay.. he should be thrown out of the industry.. the whole world is aware of his dirty politics.. a real shame to the film industry..
Akki is only superstar who release 5-6 movies every year and give us great entertainment while all other superstars include my favourite actor Salman khan just release 1 or very few times 2 movies it is impossible that all movies of akki will work tell mr srk to release 5 movies every year then compare
