‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ has taken a phenomenal opening at the domestic box office, collecting 21.3 crore on Day 1. The opening day collections of the film is higher than a big film like FAN, which featured a top superstar like Shah Rukh Khan in the lead and released on a partial holiday. It’s also ahead of other biggies like Housefull 3, Rustom, Dishoom and more than double the collections of Mohenjo Daro.
In fact, ’MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ is the highest non-holiday opener of 2016 as Sultan released on a half holiday.
Almost every circuit has performed, barring a couple in the north which were comparitively lower than the level of business that other circuits managed. A circuit like C.I has collected more than 80 lakhs on Day 1, which is only lower than the Rs 1.4 crore total of Sultan, but way higher than Housefull 3 (68 lakhs) and FAN (60 lakhs).
The start that ’MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ has got, has only been achieved by films that featured elite superstars in the industry. But Dhoni’s popularity amongst every section and the curiosity to know his untold story has ensured a fantastic opening day.
The word-of-mouth is positive so the film could actually grow from here. If ’MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ manages to show growth on Saturday, then the first weekend business could get close to the 70 crore mark and the film will have every chance of becoming the second highest Hindi grosser of 2016.

With Fox opting for a wide release and the interest the film had managed to generate even at smaller centres, it was a foregone conclusion on Thursday evening that ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ would take a pan-India opening. But the question was if it could stretch and cross the 20 crore mark, we believed it would and hence the prediction of 20.1 crore (Read prediction article).

Movie is good, but they didn’t show much controversies of his life to save his image, everyone know that he is the reason behind the retirements of Ganguly Dada, Dravid, Sachin, Sehwag, Zaheer and due to him Gambhir, Yuvraj & Harbhajan is out of field and the latter one is far better than dhoni’s chela Jadeja… anyway why didn’t they show ipl betting done by dhoni ? why CSK is out of IPL ? Why didn’t they show that Yuvraj and dhoni had fallout coz of Deepika and Rai Laxmi was his alleged ex gf… so many things to show but they didn’t… they played it safe to not spoil dhoni’s image… so basically, it’s not a biopic movie, it is a masala movie which they promoted in the name of Dhoni. what is there in the movie for which they titled, MS Dhoni : the untold story ? huh! they only showed her ex gf (played by disha patani) which was unknown to everyone. nothing more in the movie, they should have name the movie only MS Dhoni or MS Dhoni : The best Captain instead…. direction and acting is good but story ain’t.

Neeraj panday one of the good director in hindi cinema industry he is the man who know how to direct movie .how to add good element for public. I love his all movie. now I would like to see him with salman khan !
wom is positive so I think the praise should gone to neeraj sir I know Sushant had done brilliant job as m s dhoni but acting can’t make the film good and there are many examples on this like srk in fan and many more so as they said the directed is captain of the ship and also this time neeraj have trying different type from thrill films which is biography and that is make him on of few directed that never fail from wednesday to ms dhoni he done his job on perfect way so hats of to this master directed for making such a fantastic movies

The movie released on 4500+ screens which is the widest release for an Indian film so far(more than Bahubali, PRDP, Kabali, etc).
Dhoni is like Salman/Aamir in the field of cricket. So almost everyone in the country want to watch Dhoni’s story.
The director has an excellent record in terms of quality.
The promotions have been on full swing.
The movie has an advantage of Dusshera holidays, so a huge lifetime can be expected. My expectation is 140 cr as of now.
Congrats Sushant, finally you’re on par with the other youngsters. But the opening of Raabta will be the real test for you.

I was suffering from extreme fever n body pain stil couldn’t hold myself n watched it as dhoni is my favourite cricketer of all time after gilchrist n really felt emotional after watching his journey even though I knew most of his part still got to see many unknown facts abt him n wen he hit dat six to win the world cup I cldnt cntrl my emotions n wiped d way I did in 2nd of April 2011.
Will like to see it again once I get well.

Hi Criminal Baba the film which got appreciated the most thanks the director producer then sushant n other actors ok while SRK akshay r superstar sushant will take some time to get there even not on same success level otherwise Detective Byomkesh would have done more than 5 crore
If a movie is well made n its awesome it will do well no wonder who is the actor or superstar or even newcomer but the 3 khans n akshay have been superstars for years one cant compare them to new generation
@death ranger yes its opening is more than double of md ,but its opening is 3 times of baby, akki is not even near to its opening day even on holiday while hrithik had given a bigger op. than this way back in 2012 and 2014 too.
and last but not the least its opening day is more than lifetime of the all time classic “joker” of non-holiday king(who gives flop on EDX)

Dont forget he is baap of your tiny 2%/rs 2010 born star. Dangal will smash loltan within 10 days. And dangal will be first movie to cross 400 cr in india. Now get lost and worry about fuse bulb which wont even cross 100 cr.
It’s my all-time favorite movie from now. Sushant’s brilliant performance Neeraj Pandey’s realistic direction and brilliant supporting cast the film looks too natural. Hats of to the entire team of MSD.
