Mohenjo Daro is likely to be one of the biggest failures of Hrithik Roshan’s career, as the film has performed very poorly at the domestic box office on Day 1.
A film that was expected to not only trounce the competition, but record a first day total closer to the 20 crore mark, has ended up with a single digit figure on its opening day at the box office.
After the release of the trailer, it was more or less certain that the film wouldn’t open well at the ticket window. But the promos that followed failed to generate any interest, you expect much better when the team behind ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ returns after 8 long years.
Mohenjo Daro is one of those films that can be declared a disaster right on the day of its release, because the costs are high, the opening is too low and the word-of-mouth is mixed to negative.
For Hrithik, Mohenjo Daro will be the biggest setback of his career. Bigger than a Kites or a Guzaarish, because Kites opened very well and the Guzaarish won him critical acclaim. There is very little the superstar can take away from a film like Mohenjo Daro.
When you feature in one movie in two years, you simply cannot afford to disappoint fans like Hrithik has done with films like Bang Bang and now Mohenjo Daro.
Our lifetime box office prediction for the film, which started at 190 crore prior to the release of the trailer, is now down to Rs 58 crore. The final LBO prediction will be made tomorrow, but there are chances that Mohenjo Daro could finish well below the 50 crore mark at the domestic box office.

Mohenjodaro first and foremost is failure of Ashutosh Gowariker and not Hrithik Roshan …. the trailers were insipid and more importantly production values seemed so ordinary …. it never excited anyone but a few die-hard fans

Indcine has been giving negative comments from before itself for mohejodaro as if it can’t accept the success…nobody noticed Rustom slashing it’s price.. And mohejodaro has been very well accepted by crowd checkout other sites..who are not continuously praising the movie…why Indcine.. Why negative publicity

Oops even in his reincarnation year i.e. 2010, he gave epic disaster called veer which should rather be titled as kaayar. Don’t forget Main Aur Mrs. Khanna’s life time was less than 10 cr. Aukaat me reh. Very soon your loser decade strugglers will come to his original aukaat which is currently hidden behind south remakes, Kabir Papa, eid, diwali, Christmas and other major holidays. If prem bartan Dhoke Aayo had faced clash with chustom or BM then it would have been all time historic disaster.
Feeling very sad for hrithik and his fans. This was his most ambitious film till date and extreme negativity spread by rustom makers and media is also one of the reasons for this failure. The movie isnt too bad. But not as great as expected.

Even if one doesn t adjust the numbers for ticket rates and inflation, the first target for Mohenjo Daro would be cross the lifetime of the historical drama at the least. If even that doesn t turn out to be possible, it would be a major setback for all who came together to give so much to the film which just didn t manage to find connect with the audiences. The worst movie I have ever seen. Distortion of history. They should not have named this bullshit as Mohinjadaro.
