The Maharashtra government moved the Supreme Court, challenging the Bombay High Court’s verdict acquitting Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case in which one person was killed and four others were injured.
The petition was filed in the apex court against the high court’s judgement acquitting Salman of all charges in the hit and run case, overturning the trial court’s order sentencing him for five years.
“The Bombay High Court has erred in not appreciating the prosecution evidence. The trial court’s order convicting Salman Khan was correct and should be upheld,” Sandeep Shinde, the public prosecutor who has been associated with the case, said about the contents of the Special Leave Petition (SLP).
The high court, in its verdict passed on December 10 last year, had held that prosecution had failed to prove “beyond reasonable doubt” that the actor was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident and was drunk.

We all know that Salman is a criminal but justice can be bought in India, this is a sad fact. Even though it won’t happen, I really think he should go to jail !
now srk fans praying that salman should go to jail because they know SRK can never defeat salman so it is the only way to get rid of , i know salman was guilty but its was the accident and can be happened with anyone , there are many cases where both parties settle the case outside court , these social groups are always targetting famous people, so srk fans keep living in dreams that salman is going to jail
I personally don’t like Salman khan, but I have to say that Indian law is just stupid law in the whole world. Salman is proven innocent than they should move on and focus on many other major issues which we have to deal with. What are they basically trying to do? The high court is the final parameter to decide the verdict and they should just leave Salman alone now.
Salman wasnt driving nor his driver so Salman’s car is the culprit . The car took bear instead of diesel , became drunk and he killed a homeless man . But Salman is a golden hearted man trying to save his car taking all the blame on himself .
Indicine has more witnesses than the courtroom. And according to their logic, sessions court is more expensive than high court.
Salman if guilty needs to be punished…sad he gets away because of Salim Khan being close to Modi
Not that he is not popular and not doing any good work… He might be but then freeing a rich popular star is not a good example… Frankly speaking Salman should have surrendered himself served his sentence and come out … That would be a real hero..
Like his movies… Very entertaining but just because he is a god to lot of people doesn’t make him Indias good… He needs to be punished…

It does not matter who Salman is … Should not matter to judiciary …I have so many friends who love Salman… Hell I find his movies very entertaining… So that’s why he should be free ? Not acceptable boss… It is very sad no one cares about those poor guys and that police guy who stood for truth and they took away his life
Let once for all SC clear the doubts creating all around throughout this years and Salman suffering a lot for that everyone knows this plannted fabricated story against the most loveable the blockbuster the Sultan of Bollywood

For someone cant be punished under just assumptions/doubts or without watertight evidences, SC too will acquit Salman or the prosecution will face the embarrassment for the second time.
Maharashtra Govt, why are you wasting public money for nothing in this case? It will not help the victims either. Use this money for the farmers or to build homes for homeless.
Maybe some powerful groups are behind assassinating the characters and images of the dominating heroes aka the Khan Trio in Bollywood.
They have already done much damages to SRK and Aamir. Now since Salman hasnt given any of such statements that could be used to target him, they have pushed the Marashtra Govt to take the case to SC and waste public money.

South remakes and masala genre, eid holidays are the main reason why he still exists in the industry. He is nothing in front of aamir, Salman and srk. Aamir hrithik and srk’s career graph is much better and successful than this tiny flop actor.

@sultan_roshan,if kajol was really intrested in that movie she would have adjusted the dates , as I don’t think the shooting of that movie didn’t even start.Then how can she regret? Was she really offered a part in that movie?I don’t remember reading about it anywhere.
as a criminal lawyer I can tell you this case doesn’t stand a chance in the supreme court. there are way too many glaring loopholes in the case of prosecution. the law doesn’t run on assumptions and possibilities but purely on facts and evidences. and whatever facts and evidences are produced by the prosecution are simply not good enough to stand a chance in the supreme court just like the high court. the verdict is highly unlikely to be changed. I would say it has 0% chance. this seems nothing more than an ego battle for the prosecution. if the prosecution are so concerned about the victims then they should care about the compensation for the victims. sending salman khan to jail would serve no purpose and if salman khan is acquitted which is the likely scenario then the victims would get zero compensation. rather they should solve the matter outside the court and let salman help them as his car was involved in the accident. and I am sure he would readily help and make their future better. think of the victims and not take it as your ego battle for your selfish reasons. the social activists and the prosecution involved should not use it as a publicity for themselves which they sadly are and using this case in the name of fighting for justice and the victims and running their households. compensate the victims as soon as possible this should be the primary goal. these so called social activists and prosecution would not care to fight for other cases when there is no celebrity involved. they use these cases for their selfish reasons and play with the emotions of the victims and make a fool of public in the name of fighting for justice.
