Last Box Office Flop of Bollywood Actors

Aamir Khan (16 years ago, Mela in January 2000) – Aamir’s last flop was nearly 16 years back when Mela released in theatres. Mangal Pandey didn’t do too well at the box office, but managed to recover its investment due to the bumper opening that it took. While many consider ‘Dhobi Ghat’ to be a failure, the film was profitable for its makers as it did reasonably well in India and performed very well overseas. Those two films apart, the most dependable superstar in the industry holds the record for the most number of all time blockbuster – Ghajini, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 and PK. He also has mega grossers like Lagaan, Fanaa, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par (as director and actor).

Shah Rukh Khan (10 years ago, Paheli in June 2005) – Shahrukh’s last failure was 10 years ago when Paheli bombed at the box office. Since 2005, every single SRK film has managed atleast ‘HIT’ status. Films like Om Shanti Om, Chak De India and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi were ‘Blockbusters’. Chennai Express is his biggest grosser ever. While his fans have a lot to look forward to in the next 8 months (Dilwale, Fan, Raees), do read – Shah Rukh Khan Consistency Redefined

Salman Khan (6 years ago, London Dreams in October 2009) – Veer didn’t do too well the box-office, but didn’t ‘Flop’ either. London Dreams failed, but since 2010, Salman has been unstoppable at the box office. 5 back-to-back blockbusters, followed by an average grosser Jai Ho. But the comeback from ‘Jai Ho’ has been stronger with ‘Kick’ being his first 200 crore grosser and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ his first 300 crore film. 7 of his last 8 films have been blockbusters or better!

Hrithik Roshan (5 years ago, Guzaarish in November 2010) – Hrithik has tried his hand at different genres – a coming of age film (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara), revenge drama (Agneepath), superhero film (Krrish 3) and an out-an-out action film (Bang Bang) – all have done well at the box office. His last two films managed to gross 300 crore worldwide. Again, consistency-wise, it’s the Khans at the top followed by Hrithik at No 4.

Salman SRK Aamir Hrithik

Salman – SRK – Aamir – Hrithik

Varun Dhawan (no flops so far in 3 years) – Varun also made his debut in Student Of The Year. His films that followed have all been successful – Main Tera Hero (Hit), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (Super Hit), Badlapur (Hit) and ABCD 2 (Super Hit).

Ranveer Singh (1 year back, Kill Dil in November 2014) – He is one of the most promising stars among the younger generation of actors. Kill Dil didn’t do well at the box office and Dil Dhadakne Do was an average grosser. His big test will come later this year when he takes on the might of SRK/Varun/Kajol with his much-awaited film ‘Bajirao Mastani’. It’s easily the most expensive film of his career too.

Ajay Devgan (11 months back, Action Jackson in December 2014) – Ajay has been successful, but not very consistent at the box office. More often than not, Ajay has delivered one hit, followed by a couple of failures. However, the actor will be working in big films like ‘Shivaay’ and ‘Sons Of Sardaar’, both scheduled to get Diwali releases.

Arjun Kapoor (10 months back, Tevar in January 2015) – After films like Gunday and 2 States was a huge hit, Arjun followed it up with ‘Tevar’ a film that didn’t do well at the box office. Since then, he’s been missing from action. He is currently shooting for R. Balki’s ‘Ki and Ka’ with Kareena Kapoor Khan as his co-star.

Ranbir Kapoor (6 months back, Bombay Velvet in May 2015) – Ranbir looked unstoppable after back-to-back successes in Rockstar, Barfi and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Then came Besharam from the director of Salman Khan’s Dabangg. It took a huge start at the box office recording nearly 20 cr on its opening day, but the crash was equally big. He followed it up with films like Roy and Bombay Velvet – the latter was the biggest loss-making film of all time.

Emraan Hashmi (5 months back, Hamari Adhuri Kahani in June 2015) – Emraan was enjoying the peak of his popularity and stardom when he decided to take a break from Mahesh Bhatt’s brand of cinema. He instead opted to explore different genres and work with bigger banners. What followed were films like Shanghai, Ek Thi Daayan, Ghanchakkar and Raja Natwarlal. Nothing worked. Unfortunately, the return to the Bhatt camp hasn’t worked either – Mr X and Hamari Adhuri Kahani, both released in 2015, have been rejected by the audience.

Akshay Kumar (3 months back, Brothers in August 2015) - Akshay’s films are never washouts. Even in the worst case scenario, his films manage to collect 70 crore plus at the domestic box office. Brothers, though, was a biggie. A film that was expected to do 150 / 200 crore, finished with lifetime business of 80 crore.

Sidharth Malhotra (3 months back, Brothers in August 2015) – Sidharth’s debut film Student Of The Year released in October 2012. Since then, all his films have done well at the box office, except the most recent Brothers which was one of the biggest disappointments of the year so far.

Saif Ali Khan (2 months back, Phantom in August 2015) – Saif’s box office struggle continues. His career as a solo star is going nowhere as even Kabir Khan’s Phantom didn’t work. His films before that were Bullett Raja, Go Goa Gone, Humshakals and Happy Ending – all were loss making films.

Imran Khan (1 month back, Katti Batti in September 2015) - Another actor who has been rejected by the audience. Katti Batti didn’t even manage a face-saving opening at the box office. Kangana Ranaut’s presence didn’t help either.

Shahid Kapoor (This month, Shaandaar in October 2015) – Shahid’s good run that started with films like R.. Rajkumar and Haider, has come to a screeching halt with Shaandaar failing at the box office.

  • DEAR SRK HATERS I.E SALMAN AND AAMIR FANS…
SALMAN AND AAMIR ARE GIVING ABOVE AVG OR SEMI HIT MOVIES LIKE JAI HO AND TALAASH IN THEIR GOLDEN PHASE WHERAS SRK EVEN IN HIS BAD PHASE IS UNABLE TO GIVE A SEMI HIT..
EVEN HIS LAST NON HOLIDAY RELEASE VERDICT IS HIT BB AND BB (MNIK,RNBDJ,CDI)…LOL

  • I think it’s a great achievement guys these 5 actors (Salman, Amir, Shahruk, Ajay and Akshay) have prove that they all are superstars, we all fans have to be very proud of them. Guys they are in industry for more than 25 years and surviving that long is itself is an achievement, we all have to admire their such long fight. Trust me guys I think in this period of 25 years more than 20 actors have come and try their luck but only these 5 actors have not only manage to be survive but they are in the top of the industry and they have set a huge benchmark in industry that I think no one achieve it easily.
So I SALUTE these 5 Superstar of the Industry.
And One more BIG SALUTE to Megastar SALMAN KHAN (b/c I am his FAN)
I know some Hrithik fans will say why I have not put his name in list, that’s because he join the industry a little late, compare to these 5. And trust me he is great actor, and I think he is strong contender who take the position of khans in future.
And in youngster I think it’s Varun Dhawan will be the future Suprestar.
So guys stop pulling legs of other stars, and admire what ur Superstar/Megastar have achieve, at least in this article.

  • lol THEY SAY RA.ONE WAS FLOP WHICH DID SAME BUSINESS AS OF THE BLOCKBUSTER READY IN INDIA EVEN ACC TO BOI (INC tamil+telegu) :P
and WORLDWIDE RA.ONE IS MUCH MORE THAN SO CALLED BLOCKBUSTER READY.. LMAO!!!!
IS IT STARDOM DIFFERENCE? ? ;)

  • THOSE WHO ARE TALKING ABOUT VERDICT WITH BUDGET REFERRING BOI…
PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW DHOOM3 IS ATBB WITH 260Crs while the budget is 175Crs (check BOI)

  • aamir fans say SRK needs holiday release should remember AMIR has only 3 clean hits QSQT, LAGAAN AND FANAA in his entire career without holiday release…
kindly refer INDICINE- CAREER ANALYSIS OF AAMIR KHAN

  • ha ha ha ha amir has just one release per 2-3 year then how can someone get a flop in that long period of time?????

@indicine should publish last unclean hit of all superstars

KING KHAN—-10 years back with PAHELI
amir khan—-3 years back with talash
salman khan—-1 year back with jai ho

Now this what called a valuable article.itherwise how can a man will give even a flop if have only 13 release in 15 release like amir khan?????it’s complete injustice to compare 11 hit half advantage/credit stealet like amir.

Amir failed to give 7 clean hits a in a row.
salman failed to give 6 clean hits in a row.

KING SRK continueS 11 CONSISTENT HITS STREAK IN A WAY TO BREAK MEGASTAR RAJESHJI’S 15 CONSISTENT HITS.

so we simply can’t compare insecure actor like amir with any actors.also can’t compare decade strugglers like salman/amir with MEGA-CONSISTENT MEGASTAR OF THE GENERATION KING OF BOLLYWOOD—-KING SRK.

    KING KHAN RULES BOLLYWOOD.

@shaggy,take biscuits and don’t do much vow vow vow vow.if RA ONE is a flop then every salman and amir films are big flops,go to your favourite boi and watch it’s verdict again you hypocrite so called boi followers,ROFL.

  • WHILE SRK IS STRUGGLING TO GIVE SEMI HIT/AVG MOVIES IN HIS BAD PHASE AND
SOO CALLED MEGASTARS ARE GIVING AVERAGE MOVIES LIKE JAI HO AND TALAASH IN THEIR GOLDEN PHASE :D

  • @Khiladi :Don’t try to make me fool u stupid, you are bashing khans unnecessarily on every page and pretending to be an Akki fan.I know you must be Sambuddha. So better stop doing this otherwise you will have a bad time ahead.

  • “Akki movies are never washouts..”
Really? What was the collection of Joker?
Dont force me to list his wash out movies.
Yw said Ajay not very consistent at the box office so do Akki.. apart from 2007, tell me when did Akki become a consistent? . You can be a fan of any actor but please stop praising an actor who couldn’t achieve this year what young actors did (100cr).
Oh dear, @indicine, you always over hype Akki and you never hide that you are a big of Akki. Its high time you stop it.

  • @2:05pm

Nowadays our Queen needs the help of his rival Ajays best friend Rohit n wife Kajol just to stay afloat in the industry…!

  • The way Billu 1 was promoted overseas indicated the film was all about 1 man- QUEEN…! Maybe in India the 3 item songs featured Irrfan Khan but from what I saw here those videos had Queen drooling all over Bebo n Deepika throughout the videos…! I Guess they released 2 different films eh

  • @The phenom: Dont write figures from red chillies. No one will believe.
RA-ONE:114 Crores against budget of 130 crores
    JThj:101 crores
Ready:121 crores against budget of 60-65 crores

  • @phenomenal idiot

Believing BOI today but when Crappy New Yrs producers claimed their crapfest collected 45cr you all said boycott BOI who claimed a lower figure…!

    Hypocrisy

  • @stark Agreed that except Paheli and Swadesh SRK hasn’t given flop since 2000
YLHJK was released at the time of Mughal Emperors ??..lol..
Oh sorry you were talking about Flops, YLHJK was Super Disaster ?

  • 1st thing that Jai Ho was a Semi-Hit
2nd I want to ask a question and plz answer this @Indicine b/c it’s imp now. As we all know that the Ticket Price of Jai Ho is way to low compare to other big hit movies (because Salman wants that everyone even a lower middle class people can afford to watch this movie b/c of the msg in the movie). So don’t you think that if the Ticket Price of Jai Ho is equal to Dhoom 3 or Krish 3 or CE Ticket Price then it can easily collect 200cr and get the superhit verdict minimum. Because Jai Ho was not rejected by the audiences, people like this movie and there is a nice msg too.

    So @Indicine plz reply
