Krrish 3 Box Office: First Day Evening Update

Krrish 3 opened to an earth-shattering start in the morning and continued its fantastic run during the noon shows. There are reports that business has dropped at places in the evening, as celebrations for the first day of the 5-day Diwali festival (Dhanteras) has begun all over the country. Although the advance booking for the night shows in cities is very good, business is likely to be lower than films that managed to put up 30 crore+ on first day.

Diwali is a big festival in India and the pre-diwali period is known to affect business, but the opening of Krrish 3 is better than non-holiday releases like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Dabangg 2. Morning shows were only about 10-15% lower than Chennai Express – which is outstanding because today is a working day.

Coming to the word-of-mouth, initial reports are good. Exhibitors are extremely happy with the kind of response that the film has got, but it remains to be seen how well the film fares on Saturday and Sunday. And more importantly, if it picks up on Monday, a holiday for Diwali.

As expected, the youngest section of the audience are loving Krrish 3, but reports from mass centres – where the audience watch films for good music, romance and massy action – is mixed.
